Hi all!

I just got back from a five week trip to the Philippines - it was awesome! I spent some time in Barrio Balisong, since its close to Lipa City (where my dad is originally from), and bought a bunch of cool Bali's (all Labaha (sp?) blade type), a couple of Goloks (swords?) and a Kris sword. Great stuff! Plus I picked up a whole slew of Yakal 28 - 30 inch sticks for my FMA class. I can't believe all this stuff only cost me the equivalent of about $150 Canadian! The best part was I got to haggle the price of the Bali's with the store ownners! Plus I got to meet Totoy Cuento and got him to sign my copy of 'Advanced Balisong' by Edgar Sulite. He's a really nice guy, and he took me on a tour of his Bali making shoppe. It was so amazing!

The best part was a relative of mine has contacts with the DTI dept. of Batangas (Department of Trade and Industry), and they graciously helped me get some paperwork to allow me to get the Bali's out of the Philippines and into Canada. It probably helped that my uncle (who resides in Manila) is friends with the airport customs dept. at NAIA airport.

Anyway, I've been 'breaking in' my new Bali's for the past couple of days amd can't pit'em down! I'm having so much fun and I can't stop grinnin'!;)

Anyway, just wanted to share with y'all! And don't let all the latest news about what's going on in the Philippines right now put you off travelling there, I was there 5 weeks and I didn't get any sense at all of all the news reports that warned against going there.

Kali rulez!!!

Peace out,

Jay
