You guys of course realize that even with the old software there was a search feature where you could simply type in "Balisong" or "Butterfly" and get the results you desired?

Yes, but with all of the possible combinations such as brand names and model numbers its just not the same:barf:

Yes, I do, that's what I use now. I was perplexed that your initial advice was, instead, "Just look carefully, I have missed things as well", which made me wonder whether you knew of the search feature, but gave you the benefit of the doubt due to the valid point Chung San raises about the limitations of the search feature. However, it's even more perplexing now that you choose to use the "rolling eyes" icon when you mention it to us when your previous advice was to "Just look carefully" ...

I am also at a loss as to why you seem so adamant that we must agree with you, and if we don't then you must belittle us? I don't see anything wrong with folks having different opinions, and mine differs from yours in this case.

&nbsp;&nbsp; This apparent intolerance by some leads into my point about "violating the forum rule(s)". I was referring specifically to the rule to "<a href="http://www.bladeforums.com/rules.shtml">Be nice</a>" when disagreeing with others. I agree with the forum administrators that I don't find the disparaging comments add to the discussions. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding that it was the balisong content in threads that was being scrutinized.

&nbsp;&nbsp;FWIW, my humble opinion is that I would like to see a dedicated "Balisong For Sale" forum.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Chris, <a href="http://www.benihana.com/">Benihana</a> is a chain of Japanese restaurants, where the chefs prepare your food in front of you, and use a lot of dextrous knife & cooking utensil flipping to put on a show as they cook your food.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Don, lest it get lost in the discussion, I would like to say that I do enjoy your educated posts, in spite of the heated rhetoric in which they are sometimes encased. :)

Please allow me to be my own person. I never told you to lick my bag. If you and I were sitting and having a beer or a cup of coffee, and you said (or anyone said) something I thought needed a little sarcasm thrown in, I might roll my eyes...I would not sit there like a retard and keep rolling my eyes like the software does.

That is a limitation of the CyberWorld...it's intended as a One Time Shot...well, with you people in this thread anyway. Other people should have eyes rolled at them constantly. :)

I have missed things in the For Sale Forum. True, true...because I did not avail myself of the Search Feature. I simply did not think of it earlier in the thread. As I have used the Search Feature as well...

ChungSan apparently does not realize that I said, "Balisong" or "Butterfly Knife" which would bring in all the hits, regardless of Manufacturer...

There are literally more CR Sebenzas being sold on these forums than Balisongs, should there be a, "Sebenza For Sale Forum?"

Of course not.

There is no need for you to agree with me, you can feel free to disagree, and I can feel free to continue to say that it is silly to cater to one, little group of people. Like I said, just call it, "Sniperboy Central." :D

Heated rhetoric? That might be for minds gone cold. :D

Now, did the careful use of Emoticons offend anyone this time?

By the way, regardless of the accusation of, "not being nice" because I tend to speak my mind...thanks for the heads up on the Benihana's spelling...looks better now being correct.

And I do enjoy the discussion, heated or not ;)

For the record, I think this is still America. For a little while anyway. Sometimes things do get heated when discussing religion and political ideology...I don't look at that as something to be ashamed of, nor afraid of. Nor do I find it, "Not being nice."

America is not a Country Club where never a discouraging or disparaging word is heard. It is a country that used to be made up of people who were rugged individualists.

In point of fact, in the early part of this Nation's History, there were Duels in Congress[1], believe it or not. I am not advocating that, I'm merely pointing out that in a Land that has so many freedoms and so many different religious and political ideals, inevitably, some people are going to butt heads and instead of being offended by that, it should be embraced. Because it is that individualistic attitude that shrugs its' shoulders at the more Genteel Element of Society, that made this country what it was.

"Political Correctness is Tyranny with Manners..."

[1] I forget the name of the Man that he killed, but Andrew Jackson had an ongoing dispute with a Man and they decided to settle matters. Pistols were chosen. They paced off the distance and Jackson had practiced and practiced as he met a formidable Foe, the Man he was settling matters with was an Expert Marksman. When the shots rang out, the Man fell down and Jackson stood there...

Jackson walked over by the Man, as the Man lie dying, and then he walked off.

Jackson had been struck in the chest and he never flinched when he was hit, even though he knew he was, and almost mortally so, the round hit him in the chest in the general center of mass.

Jackson walked by and never let a grimace of pain enter onto his face, no one knew Jackson had taken a near-fatal round at the time...

He said later that he did not want to give that arrogant Man the satisfaction of knowing, as he lay dying, that his round had even landed...that round nearly killed Jackson.

President of The United States, Andrew Jackson. Although I don't believe he was President at that time. :)

The moral to the story, as they say, is, we are in fact more Civilized, and we should not be offended by mere heated words.

By the way, this account of the Duel has a slightly different flavor than the one I remember reading, it is still an interesting study of Honor, real or imagined and the History of "Civil Discourse" in this Country. :D

That was what I thought made America what it is today.

Freedom underlies everything!

that is why we have to fight for the RKBA!!!

CHEERS!

&nbsp;&nbsp;Don, it is entirely possible that you spent more time in the military defending our country than I did, but as a forum moderator I'm surprised that you do not recognize that <a href="http://www.bladeforums.com/rules.shtml">The Rules</a> we agreed to follow in order to be granted the privilege to be a member & post here don't violate your constitutional rights. To clarify the point, these aren't <b>my</b> forum rules, and if you don't like them, you're a moderator, get them changed.

And with all due respect to your Military Service and my lack of it, as if that makes you "special," your idea of being "nice" is not my idea of being "nice." If you have a problem, take it to Kevin and do not continue on with this inane harangue of yours.

Your little "Sermon" is becoming more offensive than anything ever put forth on religion in this forum. (And, I was not the source of that either) Understand?

Furthermore, once again, the good old, and current cheapshot of pulling out, "The Moderator Card" in an attempt to silence me has exited the sleeve...as I have said before, I am an Individual First and a Moderator Second.

The day that I cannot be an INDIVIDUAL and SPEAK MY MIND because of Moderator duties on two other Forums and not even this one, is the day I won't be a Moderator any longer.

If being a Moderator means that I have to bow to you and your own idea of what "Civil Discourse" is, and to hear your own personal sermon as to my not fitting into your idea of what "Civility" is, so be it.

I have said NOTHING in this thread to warrant this nonsense from you. I don't care who you are or where you served.

While you are at it, why don't you lobby to have the "Rolleyes" and "Puke" Gif removed as the use of them has apparently offended you as well.

By the way, when you can find a passage in here where I argued the First Amendment overrides the Site Rules, make sure you quote me, as it does not exist.

Don Rearic States:

If someone was to post Benchmade Model 44, Pacific Cutlery 10S, Tachyon, etc. for sale the search command balisong or butterfly knife does not pick it up.

Will a moderator please move this to the community forum since it seems to have gone off topic. I feel responsible since its my thread.

Thanks,

this thread is going downhill fast, guys, just like the last one did with don & johnr7. why not quit trying to get the last word?
it doesn't matter as much as you think.
:barf:
peace, dammit.
aleX.

Don,
I'm afraid that I have to take issue with one of your statements. I believe that military service does make you special. Granted we are not living in a Vietnam era, and the meals on wheels program that the United States military has been turned into is a disgrace. But these people do risk their lives and way of life when they sign up. And for all those people who sign up for "benefits" college or otherwise, they will be surprised to find out that the military's purpose is to fight, kill, and if necessary die.

When I was active, we had a motto that we tried to live by: "Go ahead and sleep well this night my friend, my country, and know that no harm will come to you on my watch."

To some, those are more than just words. I think anyone who is willing to fight, kill, or die for my way of life is very special.

Semper Fidelis

ChungSan,

So? Look for what you want, however you want. You are arguing for a forum dedicated to a specific knife when the Market (Audience) for it is very limited. I thought it was a bad idea, you think it is a good idea, someone else is siding with you. Nothing nasty was stated by me. I am merely being bottlenecked in this mess because I am stating my opinion as you are yours and he is his. All are OK. There is no "Cut Off" point at which this can be done.

Now, you want the truth? If I miss something in the For Sale Forum, that is my own fault, AS IT IS YOURS.

The point is, the Balisong is not being Manufactured by too many people and you and HIM arguing for it is pointless.

You have a right to say you want it, I have a right to say it is pointless.

Period. If that is HIS idea of being nice. Tough...

Random,

What I was trying to convey is, in a Republic, which is what this is, no one is "special," we are all Citizens and we all have a say, unless you want a Military Dictatorship.

In other words, while your Service to your Country might be special, that has nothing to do with "trumping" what I think this country is, was or shall be. He used it as a Trump Card, and I called him on it, simple as that. No sleight was intended otherwise. If you disagree after clarification, I don't know what to tell you otherwise.

I hope that clarified matters some.
