Balisong, why all the fuss?

Hey, thats guys got an M-16.

So, thats guys got Balisong knife, call the MP's!

Seems kind of dumb that the people in the military frown on carring a kind a knife, but somone walking across camp with a M-16 would probably go un-noticed. Whats the deal?
