Balisong's legal in NY????

Thats true
I own Balis...I dont carry them (anymore). I had one in my glove compartment and I got taken by a LEO and it mysteriously disappeared. Oh well he got stuck with a Jag...serves him right. I carry a camillus tactical folder I got at the state fair in the "centre of progress" Bldg for $15. its fast, legal and holds up fantastically. One of the few sub-$50 folders that I find useable being left handed

Most states' gravity knife statutes cover all one-handed (and many two-handed) folders, as well. I ain't gonna stop carrying them, just because the law could be interpreted to mean that they are illegal. The bottom line of it is, balis are legal in NY*. Sure, people might gasp at the sight of one (they do in Mass, often), but when they see you use it in a responsible manner, it can only help us.

Practically anything you do could be deemed illegal, given the number of vaguely-worded laws in this country. I'm not going to live my life in fear of that.

*obviously, I am not a lawyer, so please check locally, before telling a LEO 'well, a guy on the Internet said it was legal'.

Yes, that's true. However, one must prioritize one's risks. I believe in carrying the knife that (a)meets my needs and (b)is least likely to cause legal hassles if I'm ever stopped and searched. For me, that means carrying a locking folder rather than a balisong, as much as I might like to carry the latter.
