Balking On A Clear "I'll Take It" ... Grounds for Negative Feedback?

Feedback left should be neutral and at the sellers discrepancy. Negative feedback implies (to me) an active attempt to defraud or steal from the seller. Neutral feedback with a note would allow other people to be warned yet give them a good chance of recovery.

Good thought. Just to play Devil's Advocate, what if the buyer goes back and edits out the "I'll take it"?

Mark, I may start using that list. :D

Hence the quote feature. ;)

Quote the I'll take it, or post confirmation that you received one from someone.

If they edit the post, it will show. If they send an email, request that they post in the thread.

Just noting here that I'm not planning to leave feedback for non-transactions unless it gets the nod from Spark and the BFC staff.

I know I may be opening a can of worms that's more trouble than it's worth. However, in the past week, there have been a couple of cases in GB&U where a buyer has clearly posted an "I'll take it" in a sale thread and then balked on said sale.

In both cases, the quasi-buyers have shown little or no understanding that backing out on a deal in that fashion hurts the trust and the overall function of the Exchange. In the latter case (second link), the quasi-buyer held up the potential sale of the knife for three weeks with no communication to the seller. (He claims a system glitch ate his message saying that he was no longer interested.)

Just a note that both "buyers" in question above have been banned.

Maybe we don't need to worry about negative feedback if they're any indication of the character that accompanies flaking on a deal. The sharks'll get 'em instead.

Guyon,
What is your ruling on denying the first I'll take it the item? I have done this a few times to trolls on CPF.

My ruling? :D

I have no authority here. :p

However, I reserve the right to sell to whom I please.

It appears our esteemed Dealer interprets "I'll take it" as "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today."

I'll take backup on the Boss Jack and I'll take the B11

I had 1 buyer back out(doindonuts) and one who wants to play games and give me the runaround(Liu Kang).

All knives are now back up for grabs at these amazing prices.

Please dont post "I'll take it" if you don not intend to. Thanks.

I guess you didn't wait till morning did you? I am withdrawing my "I'll take it offer"

They are both ballbusters. dobywon could have taken the money one day later. If he doesn't want to sell to Liu Kang, he can come out and say that or just ignore the offer. He's been dinged for his bullshit before too.

Fair enough, Esav, though you'd think a Dealer would have enough cash on hand to pay for stocking inventory. Whatever the case, I certainly have the cohones to tell Liu Kang I won't sell to him. Of course, he probably wouldn't be interested anyway. Many of my sale knives have been used, and he only stocks the mint stuff. :D

I'm only speaking for myself here, although there are probably others who have been in the same situation as me...

When I sell a knife these days it's because I need the money. Often I need it in short time, because I'm not the most fiscally responsible or I cut things way too close (ie: rent to pay).

If I'm selling a knife and initially ask $325, and I get 2 offers: Person A for $325 and Person B for $300. Both say "I'll take it", Person A for $325 is first, but the one for $300 says he can pay immediately. Naturally, I'd go with the Person A, tell him where to send the PP, etc.

But then Person A flakes out in some way. It'll be a couple days before he has the money. Or he changes his mind. Or worse, there's no further communication, at least for a couple days.

Shoulda just sold to Person B, right? I would be sorely tempted to give Person A negative feedback.

Yes I have and I learned from it. But thanks for the new nickname anyway.:)

I'm not messing with someone who quotes Genghis Khan for a sig line! :D

Tehnically, that's Conan. The original must have been too long for Ah-nold to speak legibley:

"The greatest pleasure is to vanquish your enemies and chase them before you, to rob them of their wealth and see those dear to them bathed in tears, to ride their horses and clasp to your bosom their wives and daughters."

Go ahead, say it to yourself with Arnold's accent. It's fun. :D
