Hi,

I'm making belt grinder, but I have a little problem. I don't know what size of ball bearing I should use in tension roller , and I don't have any idea how it should be mounted? Any help is greatly appreciated.

1/2" ID is convenient, as you can then mount the thing onto a
common 1/2" bolt. Also the bearings of this size sell 10 for $5.95
on Ebay.

Here's how I build them:

- turn 2" OD alum round, 2.5" long or so. Exact OD doesn't matter much,
but keep it @ 2" or so, otherwise the RPMs will be on higher side and it
will translate to more wear/tear on bearings

- drill 5/8 through (so that 1/2" shaft is "loose" within the through hole)

- bore both ends to receive the 1/2" ID bearing

thanks for help. I've just starded building mine own homemade belt grinder;)
I decided to use 6001 2RS bearing with ID 12mm OD 28 mm and W 8 mm.
I will post pictures when I'll finish.
