Just finished this one. 8" blade of 01 with a partial tang, walnut grip wrapped in deer rawhide. Sheath is deer rawhide over vege-tan, with horse hair brass cones. Thanks for looking.
WA Martin, the blade is 8"x 1 1/4"x 5/32", with a long distal taper. It is 01 steel, HT'd to about 58 RC, done in an evenheat oven with a triple normalize, 20 minute soak before quench, decarb protected, and a triple temper at 450o. The grip is a partial tang with two 1/8" steel pins through the one piece walnut grip. Partial tangs were very common in the 18th c. due to a short supply of good steel.
