Ball Guard Feather Fighter

Lorien I hope you do make blade I will by you a beer in the pit if you do and there is an off chance that I could use a room mate.

things are looking good so far...

Hi Folks this is one of my knives for the up coming ACE Show. I wanted to see what you thought of what I did with the amber stag. I know the amber stag can look great when it is left Black but there is such warm color just under that black skin I thought I would just hit the top's off the high spot's and buff them. I spent a entire day just making the guard for this knife I have only been doing one face knife a year but this year I will be doing two as one of our forum mates has ordered one.View attachment 270064View attachment 270060View attachment 270061View attachment 270062View attachment 270063
Good stuff. Man!

Hey Dave
Brother this one is inspiring !!!
The Damascus alone, WOW! I love feather done well, this is a beauty as well as the shape of the blade.
I'm a huge fan of Stag but Amber Stag is one of my favorite. That's why we use Amber Stag isn't it ? For the Amber highlights .
You know I like wrought iron and the ball guard, please !
I can not stop looking at the face carving on the butt cap, my goodness!!!!!
Well done my friend, well done!!!

Don Aaron thank you both very much I do really like amber stag but it can be a mess to work with I have come up with a way using two part steel putty to fill the core and make it solid as it can be.

Dave, your eye for flow is pretty awesome. I'm really liking this bowie. Gorgeous work.

hi david, i made a similar shaped knife recently, and really appreciate the work thats gone into the guard alone.you really nailed everything on it.ill show you mine.youve given me something to aspire to.

Dave,

That's the way I like to see amber stag look, too, and that's a really nice example.

The day on the ball guard was well spent! Gives the knife a unique look, but still very traditional to go with the butt-cap carving.

This is a fantastic Lisch, and that's saying a lot right there,

John

If somebody said what I really think, why I have to repeat it again?
Thanks, John.

Wonderful knife, astonishing face!

Dave Thats one beautiful knife. Everything goes together so good and the art work is just plain TOPS.. KT

Great looking knife Dave! EVERYTHING about it just works! I'm definitely looking forward to checking this puppy out in Seattle

Thank You Lin I am a big fan of your work as well caseynz I thank you for your comment I like what you did on your knife the guard goes very well with the blade and handle. I forged me balls to shape then cleaned them up with a file if you look you can see that I made the top ball just a bit smeller then the bottom one thats why it took all day it is the third one I have made and the first flowed in that adds a hole aspect to the ball guard . I am glad I have inspired you I look forward to seeing your next knife,

Thanks Mike Ruth Jr I am looking forward to seeing what you bring to the show see you soon.

I'm viewing this on my phone and can't wait to see it on a full sized screen. It looks awesome with the small images. Very cool, Dave.

I'm with John on this one. I think the ball guard goes hand in hand with the carved butt-cap. It's an odd thing to look at one of your knives where the damascus almost takes a back seat.. almost.:p Beautiful knife Dave!!

How nice it is was mentioned already, I agree !
Great work, Dave !
Really dig your feather and that's some NICE stag !!
Hope it's a good show !

Doug
