Does Anybody Know If The Band Saws At Harbor Freight Will Work Ok For Material Removel? They Look Cheap.....

You want a speed of 90 to 100 fpm (feet per min.) to cut steel.

I've said it before but I never tire of repeating myself: That was the best $150 I ever spent. Just buy good blades, Lennox bimetal is the way I go.
 
My whole shop is composed of many Harbor Freight tools. I'd say for the money they do just fine. Many of mine have been worked really hard for many years. I don't have their band saw. Mine is a Delta/Rockwell, but my wife has their small band saw and it has worked well for her crafts. HF is one of my favorite stops whenever we shop in Tulsa. I can't walk into that store without buying a cart full of $hit!
 
I've had a Harbor Freight band saw for about seven or eight years, without a problem I might add. The first thing you do is put a good bimetal blade on it and your good to go. I did make a larger table for it out of a piece of counter top.
