I just today agreed to a trade for a Bandicoot. I have never handled it or any Swamp Rat for that matter.

What can I expect when it gets here?

I wasn't that impressed with mine.

It's relegated to the "kit" in the back of the Rover. (with the hatchet, gloves, tow-rope, etc).

I actually like mine quite a bit... I have used it as a general utility tool when doing some camping and found that it was the knife I went to most when doing general cutting chores... and I happen to have other knives with me. I do not have the HR, which seems like it is a better utility design, but this served its purpose very well and is also within reach as a defensive tool.

I would say it could be great for your needs depending on what they are... if you want a kitchen knife you could do better, but if you want a good tool for both defensive and utilitarian uses, I think you will be pleased.

If you fish or hunt small game (I consider a whitetail deer as small game)....then this lil' knife is sweeeeeeeeet! Pointy, sharp and very effective!

I like it!

Love it----probably my favorite Rat. Great balance, light weight, very cumfy handle, fine point, small aspect ratio, and high cutting performance. VERY

It sounds like a knife I will really like. I hunt small game and fish, so it will no doubt see some use.

I think I will most likely do something to get that black coating off the blade. Has anyone else done that?

And what is the best way?

I'm also thinking of having a knifemaker buddy of mine convert it to a full height convex grind.

judging from the ones that I have seen up close and personal, and knowing the kinds of knives that I know you like, I would think you will find this one to your liking. You will probably be needing to reprofile the edge a little thinnner though.
