Recommendation? Bandsaw and disk grinder advices need , also platen

I'd say it will probably handle the wood just fine... The rest I don't know.

The one I have is a piece of crap, and doesn't work well to begin with, so I'm not too sure. If they make metal cutting blades for it, it might work fine. But mine wouldn't do any of the hard stuff. It barely works for hard woods.

Mine is a Dewalt M120, deep cut, variable speed and corded. I use a zip tie on the trigger and have it plugged into a power bar. The power bar switch is the on and off switch for the saw.
 
One backside with the Portabands is they only take 1/2" blades. For cutting contours somewhat well you need to get down to 1/4" wide blades. That is what I have on my saw and it's a big difference from the 1/2".
