Bandsaw blade jumping off - any advice?

There should be 2 adjustments on the top wheel. I would guess that your top wheel is set out "too far" and causing the blade to slip off (regardless of the pitch of the upper wheel). I'd try to find a way to get it sit back in the machine more.

cmd - glad to see the problem fixed!

I too have noticed that if I tighten the blade as tight as I can get it with two hands and a piece of wood as a lever....I can bear down as hard as I want on my saw without it jumping off. I cut hard and fast on it, both thick and thin stock...works great. (14-18 tpi, 200 rpm, 1/2" wide blade - yes, I cut straight lines only - and I use fluid with it too)

Thanks Dan, the little saw really works well now and productivity has gone way up as a result.

well how bout this. My bandsaw jumps the blades off of the bottom wheel towards me no matter how I have the top wheel adjusted, even with the blade all the way to the opposite side on the top wheel. It still jumps off to the front no matter what I do, no matter which blade. It is a Ryobi 9" model

That's a wood bandsaw is it not? I don't know how to solve it for the rubber wheels.

My HF metal cutting band saw was doing the same thing. I loosened and realigned the pulleys and took a paint scraper and while running on the slowest speed, carefully scraped the surface of the wheels to remove some gunk and some uneven areas of paint from the factory that was between the wheel and the blade. It fixed it. Now the only time a blade pops off is when I catch a tooth the wrong way and stall the blade. I guess I need to move up in tooth count huh?

I dont think I'd try the scrape technique with a wood bandsaw, They move way too fast and the blades are lots more dangerous. You may could turn and clean them by hand with the power off (unplugged).
