Bandsaw Question?

I am getting ready to purchase a metalcutting bandsaw. What I want to know is has anyone had any experience with JET? I think that is what the name is. I found one for $250.00 is that price about what the going rate is ? Thanks

Thanks Jerry- I am just going to take the plunge and buy the Jet it is just a few $ more than the green model I have seen with those cheap flimsy legs. I have to have one I am not gonna cut any more steel with a hacksaw .

jet makes very nice tools, i'm buying an 18" woodworking bandsaw made by them. are you refering to the floor standing metal working bandsaw? could you tell me the model number? or is it the jet wood metal. remember that a metal cutting bandsaw needs to have a speed of 100fpm, for cutting stainless and tool steels. what's the name brand of the other bandsaw you were talking about?
 
Magnum-I am not sure the model # and the other one was green and said China on the sticker. It is a metal cutting bandsaw the floor mounted model you talking about. I will go tomorrow and get the #. Also is $250.00 a good price?

sure is, you may be thinking of a different saw, but i'd have expected something like $500- $700.
 
Check out harbor freight first. they had one on sale for $139 a couple weeks ago. free shipping too.

I have been using a JET horizontal/vertical bandsaw for years. Great little machine. Very
Sturdy.

Thanks Guys I will probably go for the Jet but I will check out the difference betweetn it and the cheaper models. Magnum I saw one at the tool store that was just like the Jet and the cheaper model and they had $400 on it. Thanks for your help .

Magnum-yea it is a V/H bandsaw Harbor Freight has one for $150.00 and free shipping but will I be replacing parts in the future? Thanks Magnum
