Bantam

the Bantam Alox is indeed very thin -
but this is exactly the attraction for some -
how thin?

about 5mm or 0.2"

However if one goes for the regular red plastic handled Bantam for more comfort or to gain the useful toothpick and tweezers - I personally prefer to get the Waiter

Swiss/international # 0.33 03
US Model # 53891 - low price ~$11

As shown one can add the mini jeweller's screwdriver to gain more functionality.

Where do you get those little mini screwdrivers that fit under the corkscrew?

The one in red is call "Waiter" not "Bantam". You are making comparison between 2 different knives. Bantam does not have a corkscrew opener.

I'd like to find a Vic Apprentice; like the Waiter above only with a Phillips
head screw driver in place of the cork screw.

yes I carry a bantam sometimes and I do feel under knifed and I generally par up a full sized multi-tool with the knife to round out my carry.

Don't own one but its on my list for sure. Great little knife for times when I am wearing dress clothes but still need a tool on me.

I'm not gonna go with the alox even tho I like the sturdiness, because lanyard rings are a MUST with me. The one on display at the local hardware store has nylon scales. Don't Bantams usually come with cellidor scales?

As has been touched on, there are 'Econoline models' now, with the textured nylon scales. I fell for such a Bantam
this past weekend. I think I may put it on keychain duty in order to really see how well the nylon holds-up. As you
know, cellidor would be trashy looking in a couple days of such use.

Wow almost 8 years to the week. Way to dig up the dead, coincidentally I am listening to The Dead; 7/16/1990.
No not under knifed for most days, the Bantam Alox is a super thin folder with a decent blade and a great combo tool.

I have a Bantam. I looked long and hard at the various SAKs that might be small enough to dissappear and still be useful. Never found the classic particularly useful. The Bantam was my choice to retain the toothpick and tweezers that I like on SAKS (and still have a blade that could be useful too) and be able to carry a larger slip joint (GEC #42) for cutting. The combo works well as far as I'm concerned. This reasoning could be applied to the combo and many of the modern knives that one might like. More knives......
