Bantams vs Slim Selects: Which do you like better and Why?

A Walmart near me had them. End cap display in Sporting Goods. I was thinking possibly some good Xmas gifts but the price turned out to be $29.99 + tax. Nope, but I did get just one. Honestly, I only wanted the key fob & the knife will probably end up in the Jeep ashtray. Got the orange camo because, I dunno, lets say Halloween is coming. The only other Bantam I have is the little Nano I found in a bargain bin at a farm & home supply store (Buchheits) It was cheap, never opened it and don't know where it is. Here is the product code for the current topic if anyone is interested.

Maybe my geography is rusty, so I'll ask: where is the USA of USA?

I just realized I never answered the OP's question, would I choose a Select or Bantam. My criteria will probably be uniquely differently than anyone else. I am primarily a collector and 110's and 112's are big subset collection categories. I choose and buy the 110 and 112 Slim Selects for that reason, as collectables, not users. I did buy an extra red 110 Slim Select intended to be a user. I do have 2 Bantams, a Nano found on clearance (I'm Buck flypaper), and the current 284 because I wanted the leather key fob :)

Well, I finally went and ordered a 112 slim, so in a little while I'll have a more thorough opinion. It'll be biased though, since I already like lockbacks and clip points.

I've skipped the Bantam, on the other hand, because by the time I warmed up to more modern contours and pocket clips, they were features of products from higher tiers of quality and price. I certainly won't knock it, as I've seen folks use knives from the same price range that were of clearly inferior quality.
Commas matter ;)
The statement just tripped me up - my brain couldn't reach the second line because it should say "US of A"...but no...it should not... Stupid brain.🫨

I didn't answer the OP's question either, so...
I prefer the Slims over the Bantams. The 112/110 handle shape just works better for me. I like and carry the 284, but the bigger Bantams get passed over for the Slims.

I own quite a few Bantams, mostly because they are a high value knife. I equipped my crew with them knowing they'd be abused, neglected and/or lost. It was a good choice. I packed the larger version around for a while to handle the questionable knife duties and protect my main carry knife from that abuse. It was lightweight enough to take a long in shorts without notice and handy when we're out on the salt water setting and retrieving crab pots - plenty of knife work with bait, pot repairs and line.

I did pick up the 110 and 112 slim select knives a few years back. Better knives. I like the pocket clip is reversible and the blade shape is superior for my uses (YMMV). If I were still running crews I'd get them the 112 slims. High value and good enough to be a primary EDC knife. Hard to beat for the $ in my opinion.
