I've got a thing for bareheads (not to mention, redheads!). On a jack pattern, I prefer a bolster just on the pivot. This strengthens the joint and gives the opportunity to adorn a bolster with threading, rat-tail grooves, engraving, etc., while leaving more of the cover material for tactile and visual appeal. I also love the way many bareheads flare at the back end to give a very secure grip. Please post up your beautiful bareheads!

Good thread idea Jeff and a nice collection! Love the Bulldog. I'm somewhat partial to bare-heads and have a few. I'll dig some up but till then here's one of my favorites.

Don't know where it went but it's making me nervous remembering a recent photo hosting incident.

So here is a question, born possibly from simple ignorance, but I figured I would ask all the same. I understand that "Barehead" can be a rather broad term and that Barlows technically fall within what constitutes a barehead jack. But in the spirit of jacks that are otherwise referred as bareheads, would a Barlow still be referred to as such?

I'll take a shot in the dark and say "yes".

I wouldn't think so. I am mostly curious because I tend to visualize a Barlow differently than I do a "barehead jack". Technically they fall under the same umbrella, I was just curious what more knowledgeable folks than I had to say about it.

I would say yes Dylan, as I've been told a Barlow is a Jack knife but a Jack knife is not a Barlow:D:thumbsup::)
