Bark River Aurora Review.

TF - great review. I like the format (and the pics!!) to show the knife in practical use. Your pics really help illustrate the points you were making about the knife and its capabilities after using it for routine tasks, like you would in the field.

Something I noticed about that knife that had a real appeal to me. It reminded me of the old days of knife making, before sharpened flat stock with a couple of slabs of green/gray/black micarta became the order of the day.

Although I know this was designed as an all around tough utility knife, it looks much classier and more refined than most knives these days.

Thanks for review!

Robert

Great review! I really like to see in depth reviews like this that actually use the knife, not just talk about it. Keep up the good work!

i recently bought a bravo-1 found it not to be as sharp as im used too. so i put a 8 drg. v grind onit.its scarry sharp, but i thought maybe you had to use convex grind only on these blades. your comment makes me feel better! tks. D

Great Review and Pictures, thanks!

I have been concidering an Aurora as a future purchase, this just makes me want it more!

I offered sale of this knife however I later discovered that I could be banned for doing so so I deleted the post and will purchase a gold membership then place an ad in the exchange section..

Resurrecting an old thread I know but have to comment on an exceptional review and demonstration of it's capabilities. I'm in the market for a medium sized wood's knive and I'll have to consider Bark River's products. I currently own their Clax which isn't for this kind of use but well made and alot of fun.

I have an Aurora in CPM-3V and it is a fine knife. The Micarta & G10 handles on Bark River's in general tend to be highly polished providing striking aesthetics but also making them more prone to be slippery. With the Aurora and many other models, however, they feature palm swells and other handle contours to provide a more secure and comfortable grip. Definately no hot spots to be found. The sheath fits the knife well but as with most of their standard grade sheaths it not on the same level with the knife.
