I have seen these handles in pics but not in person. Has anyone had experience with the Bark River Bamboo scales? What do you think?

I had them on a Classic Light Hunter. They are very tough and very light. It is really a bamboo laminate. They look great when paired with red spacers and mosaic pins. They can take a pretty good beating too.

I had them on a user northstar..I liked them alot..when I sold one of the 2 Northstars I owned..I kept the Natural micarta. Not out of preference, but the purchaser chose that one. I miss it, it was very light and a great knife to.

I can't speak for the scales, but I've had a Sector 9 longboard skateboard for the past 3 years and it's about 5/16'' thick with about 3 feet between the trucks and it's held my 280lb self well ;) I'm sure the knife scales will be good :D

I have a bamboo handled Snowy River - very light knife, perfect backpacker blade.

The bamboo is very tough stuff!

I've always heard good things about the ruggedness of bamboo as scale material. I'd love to own a blade with some. I think that new barkie would be cool this bamboo too, especially for the weight savings.

I've been looking for bamboo Barkies for a while. Before Christmas, I put some bamboo scales on a small caper blank as a paring-knife-type gift for my wife. It turned out really well. I just used some flooring scraps I had found on an exit ramp.

Solid stuff. I'd like to own some professionally-done bamboo scales.

Well, I have an early B-Day Bravo-1 in Bamboo (say that 10 times real fast:D) coming. Finally, someone realizes I like knives.;)

it is nearly indestructable and it is very attractive. I don't think you could go wrong with it.
