Bark River Bravo 1 or Fallkniven F1????

F1s only have chipping problems when they're brand new. After a couple of sharpenings they perform flawlessly.

I'll second this.

There has been ,what, one recent breakage of an F1 posted on this forum? And that was taken care of by Fallkniven.

I have been beating on mine for several years now, and it is still going strong.

Granted that was only a chunk of Poplar that I pounded it through, but it was over 3 1/2" in diameter. I have no problems using this knife as my "everything" knife.

That said I really don't think one is "better" than the other. So if you can't decide there is always "eenie meenie miney mo"

bravo1 has spine thats too tick and edge is very thin.......dont understand that concept at all..........

I think there is an argument to be made for a little thinner blade, but that concept is also used on the F1, and many other "hard use" knives. There are thinner ones available from Bark River if the Bravo-1 is too thick. I'm sure there are from Fallkniven as well, but I don't know the line as well. I'd wish they'd make an F1 with a slightly longer blade, maybe 4 - 4.25 inches max. Something in between the F1, and S1, but with characteristics similar to the F1.

LOL, buy A1 you wont regret it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Its much better overall than Bravo1! I have both and will sell Bravo 1.

My bravo 1 has really thin edge, compared to my fallkniven f1! and also thinner geometry overall except the spine! F1 is stronger knife than Bravo1! But that\s my opinion!!!!! F1 or A1 you cant go wrong!!!!!!!

I have had both. I traded the F1 towards a Bravo 1.
The handles were what made me do it. The Bravo is very comfortable (like a scaled down Becker) while the F1 never felt right. It was too thin, and the handle material (plastic?) just felt wrong.

I have the F1 with the BRKT handles and it is easily my favourite knife. Compact but supremely capable, great fit in the hand and wonderfully sharp. Its competition in my stable and its size range include a Ratmandu, Buck Short Nighthawk, Becker BK-2 and BK-10 and Fallkniven S1. If I had to take only one of those knives with me for an extended period it would be the F1.

F1 vs Bravo 1 hmm. I really like CPM-3V steel it's magical stuff, Yeah INFI might be better but not by much IMO. CPM-3V at 61 RC is brilliant stuff. It is easy enough to sharpen and keeps a good edge, quite tough so chipping should not be a problem with a thin edge, corrosion resistance is good. My vote is for the Barkie in 3V.

Ok guys this is what I did, I didn't get either! I did get two knives however, a Chris Reeve Nyala and a Fiddleback bushfinger! I know, I know, not the two knives I was originally considering, but I came across these two and could not be happier! Both are just gorgeous, and can't wait to use them. A Fallkniven may be in my future. But I've got a ranger Puukko that kinda close. Ill post pics if anyone is interested. Thanks for your hop guys!

I am actually thinking about putting my Bravo 1 up for trade to get a Fiddleback bushcrafter.
Hope they work out well for you.

EXCELLENT choices!!!!!! I have both knives you just bought. Even though the Nyaa may not feel as comfortable in the hand at first, especially in comparison to the Bushfinger, it is very comfortable when actually using it. I was very surprised at this. As far as the Bushfinger, it's by far my top two or three best knife. Amazing ergonomics and tough as nails. The service you'll get from Andy Roy is simply the best. He's a great guy and easy to deal with.
I still plan on getting an F1 for the more wet environments.

I also have an older Fall. S1 Forest Knife, it would be a a bit more knife than the F1 and less than the A1. It has a 5 inch blade and rubber handle, I got an early kydex sheath made for it too. I have no doubt though the barkies are just as tough, but I like my fallknivens, I also have the F1 in that funny zytel sheath, rubber tubing around that one also adds some friction to hold the knife in the sheath.
