Bark River Bravo 1?

I have several Bark River knives and several Blackjack knives, all made by Mike Stewart and Not only are his knives excellent, He is a stand up, honorable businessman. Their warranty is outstanding and their knives are some of the best I own. You will not be disappointed with their knives.

The only problem with Bark River is picking 1! When you turn out the amount of knives they do there is bound to be a bad 1 in the bunch but they will make it right so no worries.

Bought an A2 Bravo 1 a few years back, used, off this forum. It has given perfect service, much of it hard use. No rolled edge, very little sharpening needed. Couple of swipes on a strop keeps it shaving sharp.

Oh, and I like Mike Stewart also. Great man to do biz with. Several good stories. Good man, good company, good products.

I'm very pleased with my Bravo 1 but be warned. Once you buy one BRK you will end up with more, I'm up to three with no end in site.

I have a B1 in 3V and love the edge geometry. It cuts very well, and is well made. I also like the smooth texture of their micarta, and the ergonomics are great. The only think that I changed my mind on after using it a while was the thumb ramp, so I took it off with a belt sander. I think BR will do that for you if you send it in, but it was easy enough to do on my own.

Love my Bravo 1 in A2. It just fits perfectly in my hand, and when using it I cant put it down. The fact that it comes with a quality leather sheath is a plus. Great knife, and a great company to deal with.
Edit: Prior to purchasing the Bravo 1 I called Bark River, and spoke to Mr. Stewart personally for at least 10 minutes with questions about the Bravo 1. He was professional, answered every question, and was a gentleman on the phone, and this was during business hours. I would definitely buy again.

+1 on the Bravo, have one a2 and it took me a while to use it because it was in mint condition and a 1st production run. Kydex sheath is awesome as well as the knife. Was very surprised at how well it cut for being such a thick knife. Love it and will never get rid of it. I recommend the a2 over the 3v. And once you sharpen it a few times you get to "good steel" and it just better from there. I have 4 barkies and love them all.

I have 12 brkt knives with 3 bravo 1s. Never had any chipping issues, or significant edge damage. Been using for 4 years. The knife is sturdy and does what I use it for in the bush. Would bet my life on them given they have not given me problems. Not to mention they look pretty cool and the fit and finish are good. I think you will like them.

Btw i have 2 in a2 and 1 in 3v. They are both great. I have yet to sharpen the 3v besides simple stropping.

Bravos are good knives and Bark River is a good company making quality product.

I don't own one due to the handles being a bit too small for my hand and, in my experience, can be slippery when wet. I've handled many of them though and they pretty much reek quality.

If you like the handle there is no reason I know of not to purchase one. They are excellent.

I can't see a way to PM or email you...so I don't hijack this thread, could you contact me - harbeer.c@alcanzar.net
have a question about handles being too small,
thanks

have a question about handles being too small,

I wear XL gloves and have room to spare on my Bravo 1.

As far as grip when wet, the shape of the Bravo 1 handle makes it very secure in the hand. I've used mine rafting, in and on the water, several times and never felt like I was going to lose the knife (at least no worse than any time I draw a knife in or on the water).

I.. have a question about handles being too small...

That is one thing that I find varies from Bravo to Bravo - the handles are completely hand-finished, so some are smaller and some are fuller. Any reputable dealer will do an exchange or refund if you get one with handles that are to thin or shallow for your tastes.

I own a Bravo2 and it's one hellova knife! In reference to quality, imho it's right up there with my Randall #1. I could shave my face with that monster if need be. I will likely get a Bravo1 down the road.

For all you current and future Bravo fans. There is also now a Bravo 1.5 and what I think will be my next one, a Bravo 1.25.
There is also a Bravo-1 LT.

Many options available to suit your individual taste.

Oh yes, the Bravo 1 LT - just picked one up about a month ago and love it. Perfect fit in my hand, and the thickness is just right. I never pulled the trigger on a Bravo 1 because they are just too thick for my taste, but the LT pushed all my buttons.

Yeah, the Bravo 1 LT is my next Barkie. I think it will be the perfect all around woods/camp knife.
