I purchased a Bark River Classic Drop Point Hunter with cocobolo scales. The scales are not flush with the tang. In some areas, the tang is slight elevated. I mean it's not horrible, it still feels great but for what I paid I was hoping I would not have this issue. Does anyone here know how I can get the cocobolo to become flush again with the tang? I don't want to send it back because it is not that bad. More of an aesthetic issue than functionality.

Wood shrinks and expands.

Shrinking & swelling of natural handlematerials has to be expected.
Stored in dry conditions will make the moisture level sink and the handle shrinks.
In wet conditions it will swell.

If it bothers You, go with Micarta or G10.
