Both companies were built on lies.

Mick lied about his military service, those lies contributed to his company being successful.

Guy knowingly ran a Ponzi scheme from start to finish, he’s nothing more than a thieving con artist.
 
My Crusader is pretty flawless. My Cub has uneven grinds one side vs the other, but I didn’t bother trying to have it fixed. I love some of their designs but will not be buying anymore of their knives after things I read on these forums from folks whose opinions I respect.

Businesses make a reasonable effort to conduct themselves ethically.
All others need not apply.

Strider and S!K knives definitely fall into that last category.
BRK is teetering over the abyss, in my opinion- there's been some evidence in the past of shenanigans and their customer service is only as good as how benevolent the owner is feeling.
Medford's public relations could use a real spit polish, and in my opinion Greg Medford is a crass jackass with an undeserved audience, but ethically I'm not aware he's done anything wrong.
 
Interesting thread about “ quality control”. I currently have 3 or 4 Bark River knives with no complaints or issues. That said, I’ve sent back 3, I believe for quality issues for refunds. The issues were fairly obvious to me upon arrival. Not sure how they made it past QC.
I can’t speak to the other topics or rumors being discussed here.

Nothing so far in this thread is a rumor. It's documented here on the forums.

I respect the hell out of this, on the flip side many of the guys I know on the forum like their brk knives and I know Mike can make a good knife. To each their own on how they choose to spend thier own money and who they support.

The bad QC isn't rumors either, so absolutely nothing so far has been a rumor. Just wanted to clarify for potential new people that may be reading. One of the amazing things about bladeforums is its long standing documentation of events.

Agreed. That’s why I have returned approximately 50% of the knives I have purchased for a refund.

Not to take away from Mikes shine but... many, many years ago when Strider was first getting some name recognition there was a article in AH about Mick and his knives, through the course of the article Pat Covert who was the author stated that one of his most prized possessions was a sheath that Mick had gifted him. The story goes that the reason there wasn't a knife with the sheath was that particular sheath had accompanied Mick on one of his covert dork ops missions and the knife was buried in a tango... no time for retrieval :rolleyes: 🤣

Considering the only "dark op" mick strider has ever done is prison, something was definitely getting buried in "tangos".
 
We're getting a bit beyond the scope of General Knife Discussion, methinks.

no rumors from anything I said. not sure who's post you're referring too. I can prove everything i said. all facts.....even Mike doesn't like to be pestered on Saturday...
