I was perusing one of those threads where everyone posts pics of their collections and one knife stuck out to me, the bark river micro canadian. It looks like it would be a very practical little fixed blade. I have relatively small fixies (swamp rat bandicoot) but still kind of large to carry in most circumstances. Not only would the MC be easier to carry, but the size and shape would be useful in about any task, from food cutting, bait cutting, opening boxes, making fire sticks, ect.

I really want one now. I tried to do a search but the feature seems to be down, that's why I was force to start this thread. Please feel free to post pics and aid me in my decision.

Barkies are popular here. There's also a dedicated BRKT subforum over at KnifeForums where you can see more pictures and ask questions.

dude,

I jsut got my first Mikro canadian. It's an amazing little knife. It fits perfectly in the pocket or on the belt. I've ordered a pocket sheath for mine that also holds a folder of my choice.

Good luck!!!!!

I think BRKT's are great knives. However, I would ask someone (either here or on the other Forum) to post you a couple of pics of their Micros in their hands. I like the Mini models well but find the Micros very small.

it is indeed small, but my hands are small so it's just perfect!

I'll take some in hand pics tomorrow and post them here.

I saw a couple pics while googling, it will be fine to me. Now it's just a matter of finding a place with a good selection that will actaully ship. I just had a bad transaction with Qknives, now I am skeered.

I have just noticed that there are differant handles, the pinned ones and the eopoxied ones. I wonder how well the epoxied ones will hold up.

Which pocket sheath did you order?

Also, check out the mini canadian. It's a bit bigger but not by too much. I think it's even more of a perfect size than the mini.

I got mine from knivesshipfree.com

they have several styles. I'm excited to get.

There IS a lot more about that model on KF. IF I recall correctly, it was designed by Mike Stewart and SgtMikeRet (I forget his exact handle). Sgt. Mike also does great reviews...check it out. And look closely at that Micro...it is way smaller than you can imagine. The blade, though wide, is about the length of a SAK Executive blade (small). It is handy, convex (which I like) and stury enough although personally, (with apologies to Sgt. Mike), having owned and used both the Micro and Mini for over a year, I prefer the Mini-Canadian.

Micro's are very small, and the Micro 2 is a tad thinner as well as being stainless. That said, I prefer the Micro to the Mini--I like the full scales.

I have a Micro Canadian II. It is a fine small knife. It is a little small for the only knife on me application. I use mine in combination with a Fox River and a Golok. It fits the ultra fine use catagory in that package.
I tend to like just a little more knife for a lone EDC type of blade. I found a BRKT Pro Scalpel II LE that fit the bill for me. Just enough more blade and handle for my tastes.
In hand shots included. Pardon the mangled and cruddy hands. Goes with my job.:o

I've decided on the mini for now, I can get a micro later. There are so many models to chose from! The edk looks nice but it seems like you are limited to a neck sheath. That might be my third.

The Mikro is far more useful than I imagined. It packs small, plays big!

oh man, I so agree.

Derrick, I ordered a pocket sheath from you last night that holds my mikro or other small fb's and my erickson texas toothpick or other folder.

I'm SO excited to get it..

take care,

Just got my first mikro two days ago. Its actually a lot smaller than I had anticipated but the knife and sheath fit very well in the pocket for EDC. Great knife and will probably be a backup to my BRKT Highland

nice pics!

I love that MCII. that's one my list of ones to get.

:)
