BARK RIVER vs BLACKJACK Knives

I've met and dealt with Michael a couple of times. He's never gone back on a deal but can be slow to deliver = in stock on CEK does not necessarily mean in stock in Oz - could mean in stock at one of the distributors in USA he buys from. I am still waiting for delivery of a knife I ordered a couple of weeks back

With the current direction the various WLB's and ACS is heading I now prefer to buy my folders from Ron at Urban Conquest

Yeah, hopefully what happened in NSW to all the knife clubs doesnt happen here, I'd still like to get a hinderer or 2...

What happened in NSW was an attempt to bully AKC into supplying a list of its members to the Police. I would argue that this would be a breach of the Privacy Act but a Court challenge would have been prohibitively expensive. AKC did the right thing by its members and told NSW to stick it where the sun don't shine (very politely of course) - but now, knife collectors in NSW will have to form their own collectors' association and apply for registration.

A group of Aussies are in the process of creating a new National non-profit group to lobby for knife owners and collectors. PM me or Dutchy if you want more info

I read a few weeks ago Abbott and Gillard were in a match to be the most restrictive on knives and 'other weapons'.

Nice to know that there's real choice out there, isn't it?

Not wrong. They are starting to make the greens look good.
God help us, we have to vote for them bast$%#s tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply, okbohn. I was curious, because I like AUS10, and it's really hard to find in any production knife.

Blackjack Airforce knife. About to be released.

Are Blackjack Knives still being made, and if so, are they still made in the U.S.A.?

This thread is older than your Join Date.
It certainly is, and my Google search only lead me to this thread, so I decided to ask regardless of thread age. I figure one of you guys might know something about them.

Blackjack is still alive and kicking unless something has happened that I do not know about (which should not be hard to do since I don't know anybody) but they are having some cheap made over seas knives made and mixed in with the quality stuff made by Bark River.
I didn't turn up any web address for them, nor find mention of them in any online knife store either.
I guess this thread was my last resort?

Blue Ridge Knives of Tennessee owns the brand now, they bought it from Ken Warner, who in turn, bought it when the original company went out of business.

The higher end knives are still made by Mike Stewart's company (Bark River), with the cheaper stuff coming out of China, etc....

Blue Ridge is a big wholesaler, but they maintain website with most of the models on there -

Last year, one of the knife vendors, probably KSF, was selling BlackJack "Tac-Ops" knives at a discount. These were prototypes of the design, and made in A2 steel by BRKT. Production version was to be made with 1095 steel. The price was good, so I ordered one.
It has proven a solid performer as a camp knife, and it often goes along on day hikes.

Blackjack Knives are still made in Michigan, as posted, and incredible.

I'll post a quick review, with pictures, in General Knife Discussion regarding my recently purchased Model 5, 1-7, and 14.

The Blackjack Classic line are high quality, usually in A2 steel and made by Bark River. The 125 is one of my favorite knives. They have a full length tang in case you wonder since you can't see it. The 1-7 is sort of a fighter but absolutely a beautiful knife, and of course the Halo ones are just beasts, but still well made. You can't go wrong with one of the Blackjack Classics if you like the design.

Thanks Guys. :)

COOL! Can you post a link to it here when you do?

BlackJack still makes many quality knives here in America.

New designs have been introduced every year, with more in the pipeline.

There are more BlackJack models available now then ever before.

Big Mike

Isn't the owner of Bark River also the owner of the original or first Blackjack Knives too? I think he is.
I thought a dentist in Effingham was part owner, his name was Lewis Frazier, he went broke when blackjack went into bankruptcy, and the guy that ran the place (Mick was his name if i remeber) left town. Lewis died of lung cancer 5 plus years ago, he was a friend
