Up for sale I have three very nice Bark Rivers. I may also list these knives on other forums.
1) Northstar Companion in Desert Ironwood (not burl). A2 steel. Has seen light use and etch is polished out. The blade had some scratching so I sanded it with a progression of Micro Mesh pads, leaving a horizontal (lengthwise) brushed finish. But in good light you can still see some of the original vertical marks.
In addition to the exceptionally nice ironwood on this one, there are a few other things that are different:
*The Northstar Companions were made with a lanyard loop protruding from the end of the tang but I wanted a cleaner profile, so the good folks at Bark River ground it off for me.
*I smoothed out just a bit the firesteel notches in the spine to make for a more comfortable resting spot for the thumb.
*I swapped out the original Bushcrafter sheath for a Tusk sheath---it fits like a glove and makes for a smaller and sleeker carry package.
7" overall length; 3 1/4" blade (3" cutting edge); wt. 4.1 oz.
The Northstar Companion is compact but stout and provides a comfortable and secure four finger grip (for my average size hands). It will come to you sharp and with a very fine point for detail work. This knife has been out of production for quite a while and is a little hard to come by.
Includes (Tusk) sheath and original box. $135.00 SOLD
2) Little Creek in Ghost Green Jade G-10 with Blue Liners. A2 steel. Has seen almost no use. The Ghost Green Jade scales are very attractive and the blue liners top them off just right.
Note: My limited photography skills do a poor job of conveying the exact shade of the scales. In person they are more green like the first two pics rather than bluish as in the second two pics, and a little darker. That said, one of the cool things about the Ghost Green scales is that their appearance does change somewhat depending on the lighting, background, etc.
5 3/4" overall length; 2 5/8" blade (2 3/8" cutting edge); wt. 2.3 oz.
The Little Creek is the classic Bark River small knife. It will come to you sharp.
Includes original Sharpshooter Bushcraft "F" sheath (belt loop removed for pocket carry) and lanyard. No box. $125.00 SOLD
3) Petty in Olivewood. 12c27 Sandvik stainless steel. This is the older discontinued model Petty, and is pretty scarce.
9 1/4" overall length; 4 3/4" blade (4 1/2" cutting edge); wt. 3.2 oz.
I much prefer this knife to the later "Petty Z" model both in terms of looks and also because Im a big fan of the fine grained and easily sharpened 12c27 steel. Has seen some use in the kitchen but is in excellent condition. The olivewood scales are simply beautiful. The knife will come to you sharp.
Includes original box and kydex slip. I never used the kydex since it can scratch the blade but instead used a simple homemade cardboard slip, which Ill include. $120.00 SOLD
