Barlow suggestion please

I only have one that I mentioned above and agree with your thoughts on mine. Fortunately you can pinch it open otherwise it would be difficult to open. But locks up tight like a bear trap which is the positive side .
With a two blade version, pinching it is near impossible....the pen blade reduces the area which you can grab to pull the main open (especially it is a clip blade)...forget about the pen blade...use a blade key LOL.

For sure and one of many reasons why I prefer a single blade Wharnie or similar on those bear trap Slip joints lol👍🏻 Makes pinching open simple with no teeth grinding necessary during the opening process😆

Here is another to consider that I just pulled out of the tin . Haven’t had a Queen in a few years and this example is very nice . It does have e a lighter pull but depending on your needs should be adequate . Does not have that work horse feel of my A.Wright but it is beautiful and wonderful fit and finish. Made in the USA with 1095 blade steel . Very impressed with this one ..

I believe that Queen is made by Bear and Sons. Seems to match their big barlows.
Yes that’s what I’ve heard also . I’ve e got a couple 2 blade Queen Barlows on the way and Bear and Sons for comparison. If both are like this Single blade Queen Barlow I just received as far as fit and finish I will be very impressed.

Just took out of package! Definitely a working man's knife it's got some tool marks and scales are kitobe wood which looks almost like micarta. Edge is sharp and is 18 degrees. Great snap and tiny bit but almost unrecognizable blade wobble. Blade is almost centered but not touching liners. After sharpening, cleaning and adding a coat of beeswax to scales which will likely darken them up some I'll carry this and use it as much as possible for a week and report back. Overall not a bad knife for just under 40 bucks.
