Barlow?

Hi,

I just caught the Barlow bug myself this summer yobbos1. While my collection isn't as big or near as nice as Absintheur's, I wouldn't trade. I can't figure why I didn't like the one I had as a youngin'.

Top - Boker Grand Canyon Bone
Middle - GEC #25 Red Horn
Bottom - RR Jigged Brown Bone

Queen made Robesons are nice. I forget what the jigging pattern is called but it's different.

Dalee, I'm chasing you from forum to forum just to tell you that's a nice Boker! Gotta love a Barlow.

Does Queen still make the Robeson?

With Barlows everyone seems to own at least one "nice" one...Russell, Queen, Boker, GEC, etc...and at least one cheapie...

I owned the cheapies first but later bought higher quality as I got older. I wonder how many bought a Rough Rider or equivalent to "try out" the pattern and ending up buying a higher end Barlow later on, I know I did.

Does Queen still make the Robeson?

They might, but not that one.I'm not sure if that was a Smokey Mountain special. All I see there now is a peanut.A decent one at that. Someone should grab that one.

Root Beer, that's the name of the jigging on the Barlow.

Some older CASE barlows, pattern #62009.

Note the three different master blades - clip, spear, and razor.

I too like Barlows. The old Russell in the lower right hand corner is one of my carry knives. It is older than I am and it still cuts. The 2 blade Russell above it is much nicer.

Beautiful collections guys...I am envious of the nice set of Case. That S&M stag is very nice as well...heck...I like all of them!

Thanks, Absinth. The Queen Schatt & Morgan is very nice. My favorite of my little lot there is the Cripple Creek only because it is more valuable than the others. The prettiest one for sure is the IXL stag Barlow in the middle of the image. Next would be the two blade Russell mostly because Russell and Barlow seem to go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Thomasons old Cases are classics. I like them all too.

I realy love the barlow patern. To me it's the epitome of a no nonsense working mans knife.

Nice Russells.I live in Massachussetts, you would thing there would be some around here.

Lots of great looking Barlows in this thread!

If you can find a copy of the July/August issue of "the Backwoodsman" there is a good multi page article in there on the Barlow and it's roll in history.

Here's one of mine;
