Do you guys prefer a clip point blade or a spear point blade, and why ?
For me I really like the clip point blade mine has, but I don't have any experience with a spear point Barlow.
That being said I like the looks of clip point Barlow's, so think that's what I'll stick with if for no reason other than looks.

Currently my only barlow has a wharncliffe blade. That seems to be my fav blade shape of late. I would buy either a spear or clip without hesitation (love me a pretty clip).
Also my fav traditional knife I own (74 saddle trapper) has a wharcliffe/clip combo this would likely be a barlow configuration I would enjoy as well.

I find that the spear blade compliments the shape of the barlow better than a clip point blade. That being said, I'm a sucker for straight edge blades, so a sheepsfoot or wharncliffe are definitely desireable.

Im making a barlow with a wharnie main currently, and the last barlow I made had a sheepsfoot. I gave that to a buddy. Small but tough bellied blade is best paired with a big long flat blade.

Between clip and spear, I prefer a spear. I like the stronger tip. But truthfully, I'm cool with either. A clip is almost as useful to me, and is usually more aesthetically pleasing.

Anything but a sheepsfoot! The sheepsfoot makes a great secondary but isn't a great all rounder. The photo above is about perfect imo.

I have a bunch of Barlows both clip and spear and I prefer the clip however, the sheepfoot on my 77 is nice too. Here's a shot of some of mine, a 77 Sheepfoot then a great example of a clip on a Colonial.

I like that colonial, was it rescaled ?
The clip is pretty close to my imperial jackmaster.

I grew up with a Barlow and my favorite then was a clip main with a pen secondary. These days I tend to lean toward a sheep foot main with a pen. Have yet to own a spear point Barlow.

Growing up the Barlow was my preferred knife. I have had and lost dozens. I always wanted a clip blade and nothing else. The others look cool but are not as useful.

Something about a Clip blade just looks right on a Barlow to me.

My preference in order, spear, clip, spey, wharnie, sheep. For a secondary blade, and I do like two blades over one, coping, spey, clip, spear, sheep.

After all these years, Barlows are just now on my radar. I missed the opportunity to pick them up when they were a cheap everymans pocket knife. I inherited my dad's old Imperial and that is when I grew to appreciate them. For me personally I prefer a clip blade shape, but after playing with some SAK's in the last couple of years I am growing rather fond of the spear shape. I guess I'm good with either one. It's got to have both a main and a small pen blade for me though. I received a RR barlow with tobacco bone and I really like it. One of the sharpest knives I've ever seen straight out of the package.

Same thing with me, the imperial jackmaster that r8shell sent me was my first barlow.
Anyway if I could choose 2 blades to put into a Barlow I'd go with a clip point main blade and a sheepsfoot or warnclif secondary blade.

Spear, it matches the frame so well. I suspect that original Barlows would've sported Spear too, I prefer the Barlow as a single. The Sheepfoot can be very good as well, but then, I liked the Drop-Point on the recent Trestle Pine Barlow. 'Traditional' it was not but I thought it was a good change.
