Let's see some deals on users that you've found over the years.
I've had a couple of knives that have eluded me over the years since becoming a knife nut. One is the BM Nagara 10700 and the other was the William Sonoma Shun/KAI Gent's lockback in polished micarta. Neither knife were very expensive new. For the Nagara it was readily available until they discontinued the model presumably because the margins weren't high on the knife. It was something that I could easily see with an upgraded blade vs the very decent 9CR13 steel that they used in it and it had an interesting Nak-lock mechanism to it? The prices doubled for them right when I was going to pull the trigger on one and for my cheap self, haven't been able to find one yet at a price that is logical in my head. LOL.
The KAI I fingered quite a few times, but I was on a crazy buying and trying spree at the time and the lockback was my least favorite mechanism. A few years later I find it really ironic as lockbacks by and large are my favorite locking mechanism thanks in no short order to the Spyderco Delica, Buck 110, Schrade OT series and host of other lockback knives like the Kabar Dozier.
Well today I totally lucked out and when I put in a random search for the Nagara (no luck) and the Kai, a used one popped up and I got it for $12 shipped!
I'm pretty excited to get this one in, will clean it up a little for popping it into my pocket as an EDC. At least in the photo it isn't anything some wet sanding with 1000 grit and some lube can't remedy. Might polish up the micarta as well.
Have you folks let any knives get away only to have it surface as a user, picking it up for a great price?
