I rarely buy TK mag anymore, but it had a nice article I liked so....

I just got a Barong today from another forum member, and I love it, great knife. I also have a Khukuri on the way, should have that one by the end of the week.

UPS currently has my brand new barong. I got my hands on a khukuri while i was at the spyderco outlet store last month, it wasn't really my cup of tea.

Hanging my head.....I have still been unable to get my hands on one.
This thread is torture, lol
I was however, able to trade for a centafonte3 which has the vg10; this is the first time I have ever used or will have sharpened such steel, i've heard great things though, so im very excited.
I made a commitment to not buy another knife unless I need it, so ive been trying to trade my way into one; unsuccessful thus far.

I have been carrying my Kuhkri for about three months now and I love it. It is surprisingly thin in the pocket too.

I really, really like my Kukri's. I'm thinking of sending my carry one to STR for some jimping.

At first I didn't like the odd shape of the Khukuri and the vomit green color was a turnoff. Well, once they were on sale for a price that was hard to turn down, I bought a few. After handling the knife, I discovered it's quite functional and much easier to cut since the blade is angled. With a new interest in the knife, the green had to go. The handles came off and into the dye tank. Now, I like this knife and it's my new EDC. No black residue left from the process. Another person I know that did this with a Dragonfly G-10 about four months ago mentioned the handles wore pretty well with no green showing. Used RIT black, submerged in hot water for 20 minutes, rinsed, dried and installed on the knife.

I was just thinking tonight how cool the Kukri would look with black scales. Great idea. What kind of dye did you use and how's the durability?

Well worth it. It really changes the feel of the knife, it 'points' much more naturally and securely.

STR did mine and its now my EDC.

Ca. 200 MAX.

It is a collector's club number, and this club has a max of 200 members. Not every number is used, but this one is, or the number wouldn't have been etched. If the knife is new from a shop, perhaps it is a number of the dealer who owns this or more than one number to make sure to get at least some knives of a model (as one of the first). Alternatively, the original club member didn't want that particular knife and the dealer sold it to the public (in this case, to you).

The collector club recently has undergone some major changes. If you want to learn about the club and its rules, you can take a look here.
