It's been a three year process, but the first run of the Baryonyx Machete is finally complete, inspected, in stock, and ready to ship! :D

Thanks much! It's been a labor of love! I think folks'll be really impressed with the performance of these--they turned out great. The pre-production one in the above photo has been seeing a lot of use around the homestead and I just get more and more fond of it. :)

I might just have to pick one up, it looks great.

Edit: I take that "might" back, I will be picking one up.

Congrats! Full steam ahead! All of the testing and fine tuning finally paid off with a great design.
I just ordered and cant wait to get my hands on one of these beasts.
I have a feeling its going to be bigger than it looks in the photo and vid.

Also, is there a link or could you post a picture of the sheath?
Rick

Like the one here, but in black. Swiveling belt loop. :)

just got mine!!! beastly. made by condor if i am not mistaken. but with the nice edge treatment. i wasn't even expecting the nice sheath! i was gonna post a pic to show how big this beast is, but apparently i have to upload it some offsite host then link. too much trouble for me. i immediately cord wrapped the handle, which makes what was already a handful a super beefy grip. been slicing some boxes at work. will hit stuff around the house tomorrow. bushes, trees, grasses, etc.

thanks 42 blades. i cant think of a thing id change. that edge thinning is great. its not the best grass machete i have, butu i am sure it will ride in the truck now. it just overtook my cold steel magnum kukri, which has been on top for years.

Glad you're enjoying it! While it's obviously not an ideal grass machete, it's designed to be able to do such tasks handily nonetheless. Hold it with the blade horizontal and make back-and-forth cuts with it, whipping the weight of the blade side to side--you may be surprised by the results! :D:thumbup:

This thing looks perfect for the woods of NH (given that you live in ME, not too surprising). Any distal taper? When is the next batch going to arrive since you're sold out, I should have jumped on it sooner.

Shoot, those turned out looking great!

Definitely on my list of "machete's I gotta get"

Yup! It was designed with the North American temperate zones in mind, and the extreme diversity of targets one might have to face in the New England region made for a great place to brew up the concept. It can handle everything from grasses to trees with the right technique, and do so comfortably.

No distal taper on them, as it actually would have negatively affected the performance. It's hard to describe, but basically your profile gives you certain characteristics and tapering (both distally and in things like grinds) provide other characteristics, and they all have to be balanced against each other to arrive at your desired end result. In this case it would have skewed that relationship if the stock was tapered. :)

The next batch should be sometime around mid-February or early March if all goes to plan. It'll be a larger one, too, so it shouldn't disappear in less than 24 hours like the first run did! :D

Thanks! It's a real dream come true finally having these little piggies heading to market. :D:thumbup:
