searching for info on a small(4" closed) Camillus drop point folder. The handle is shaped like a baseball bat(hard plastic?)painted to simulate wood grain in dark brown and black. Etched on one side of the handle is "Babe" Ruth and a baseball in a (now faded) gold color. Any information greatly appreciated.

tranefan2k,
Your knife was made in the '30s.
Our records show that it was a turkish clip blade, I can find no referance to a Babe Ruth knife with a drop point blade.
If indeed it is a drop point, please send me a picture/scan of the knife so i can further explore.
I found a letter in our archives from "The Babe" dated July 15th, 1930. It read:

"Show me a typical American boy and I'll show you a boy with a pocket knife in one hand and a baseball bat in the other.
Not only the boys, but their fathers and their grandfathers, like to whittle and it takes a good knife to do good whittling.
Now you can get a knife in the shape of a baseball bat and I'm mighty glad it carries my signature. It's a good knife and a good idea.
Yours truly,
Babe Ruth"

Thanks for asking the question. It was a fun search!
