Basic 11 In the House.

Ankerson, Many thanks for the vids and photos of your B11 takin' care of business.

That's the only place that makes since to me, it's has to be forward. :D
Not necessarily.

Another option that prevents both fore-and-aft slippage of the user's hand on the knife handle is the Colonel Applegate way of wrapping the lanyard around your hand with the lanyard threaded through a hole at the butt of the handle. To make the wrap you hang the knife off the back of your open hand (lanyard looped around your thumb, see pics at linked thread above), then rotate your hand down into position to grasp the handle.

One advantage of the Col. Applegate wrap is that it does not restrict wrist rotation for snap-cuts when chopping. The tension of the loop from the butt of the knife handle around your thumb keeps your hand from sliding forward when stabbing/slicing. The tension of the loop around the heel of your hand keeps the knife from taking a flyer when chopping.

I use the Col. Applegate wrap with an Akabu Loop, so named for a Bladeforums user from whom I stole the idea as noted in linked thread. That lanyard loop allows for a non-snagging carry configuration while hiking through the brush, while offering the option to easily make a loop for your hand when using the knife. Using the Col. Applegate wrap with the Akabu Loop it is possible to adjust the size of the loop (tightness of the lanyard around your hand) by pulling one of the loop tails snug through the rubber washer.
