Since I have yet to see pics of it or hear anyone talk about this particular model, someone who was at Blade please fill me in.

How big is the choil and how does it feel in hand compared to a Basic 11.

I have a feeling this is going to be the only knife that will usurp the SAR 6 for me as the go to blade. I came to this realization after obtaining a Battle rat and found myself wishing for the same knife just a hair shorter and in INFI. I even debated shortening a B11 down to between 8 - 8.5 inches on my own but thought better of it.

I haven't been around here for a couple months, due to being very busy with the snow gone and really not liking the new BF layout. However, this model really got my attention when I saw it in Jerry's list of new models. I suspect it is the new grail that is currently being overlooked with the excitement of all the other new offerings... I'll take it!

Well, here's a pic

In order, B-10, B-8, B-6, and B-4

:D

The B-4 is AWESOME!

I keep hearing this. Can you expound on why? And confirm the thickness, please. :)

Tim, I have to agree. Of all the blades at the show, the B8 (and the B4) really caught my eye. I think the 8 could be a fantastic go to do it all knife.

:cool::cool:

Just wish I could have been there in person.

The War Dog handle they used on it makes the balance great. It is blade heavy, of course (resiprene doesn't weigh much), but the knife is light and very quick. It feels comfortable in many positions and since it is so light, awkward positions shouldn't be a problem.

Thickness? I don't know, I didn't have a mic, but I want to say .2. DericDesmond is the one to answer ANYTHING about thickness on knives at Blade. I think he measured everything

Did it look to be the same thickness as the other three there or noticeably thinner?

Yeah, that handle caught my eye from the first time I saw it. I can only imagine how it feels in hand.

I didn't fondle it as much as I should have, but I want to say thinner. But everytime I checked it out I was hungover so..........

As more people get home, hard telling what type of pictures will pop up (maybe even thickness comparisons) and hopefully some that ordered one remembered the thickness.

Sweet, that is just what I wanted to see. It confirms my suspicions, so thank you! Not too long, not too short and can't be too heavy = One Blade Perfection.

As for the B4, I much prefer that design (reminds me of a Res-C old school BA) to the War Dog I missed out on, so I could see the two of them (B8 with B4) making a really sweet pair.

Jared, I wish I could have gone as well, but maybe next year.

Yeah man, the B4, B8 and B11 would cover all the bases for me without a doubt. If the B4 is thinner that is. You could pair it with either the 8 or 11 depending on the scenario.

I'm hoping for next year as well. Depending on where Dave is living next year maybe we can all meet up and car pool. :D;)

Is it just me or does the area of the ricasso look longer than usual on the B6,8 & 10?
I guess it is the same as my B11, just looks bigger in that finish.

that basic 4 looks like it would be an easy modification into a choiless knife. Bring the edge up, thin out the grind to accommodate, and you've got a fairly lean choiless 4" model.

Oh holy crap. That is awesome!!!

The Basic 4 will be mine. It's like a flat ground ABA with res-c handles. Does it get any better . . .?

OK...NOW you have my attention! I wasn't sure if I would be interested in the B-4...but < .2 and I'm in.

Did anyone get an exact blade length on the new Basic 8, from handle-to-point?

Thanks!
Will

By the way, Jared--great catch on the thinner B4 blade. Good eye!
