SOLD--THANKS TO ALL

This is my last Basic 9, and the reason it’s my last is because this is a very special rig that took a lot of time and effort to assemble, even when the parts were much more accessible over 12 years ago when I put it together.

First, not everyone knows that Busse issued several different sheath configurations for the Basic 9, the most common of which was the large Cordura sheath with kydex insert that we’re all familiar with. But Busse also at one time issued kydex drop-leg sheaths for the B9 and most rarely a kydex drop-leg sheath with lashing slots for quick-release Cordura leg straps which were included from the factory. Busse also for a time issued a black leather sheath for the B9, as an option instead of the standard Cordura/kydex rig. The drop-leg kydex is the toughest/most durable and much less bulky than the common Cordura/kydex. The leather is the most compact of all, and the quietest, lightest factory-issued sheath of all. Over time, I picked up/swapped out sheaths for my B9’s until I completed this set with both the drop-leg kydex with thigh straps and the factory black leather--as I said, both very rare. In fact, a drop-loop kydex sheath for a Basic 9 without thigh straps was recently advertised for sale on this forum for $125.

I also managed to obtain, among many B9’s I owned at one time, a couple of the out-sized blade length B9’s, and this is my last one of those, also. Which leads me to another fact not widely known--Basic 9’s varied quite a bit in actual blade length, and the blade on this one is very nearly 10” from handle to point—I’d call it 9 7/8”, with usable choil and of course, the original asymmetrical edge.

This knife was never a safe queen. It has been tossed in with other gear in all kinds of situations over the years, but as I said it was a back-up rig and I never had to use it. As far as I can remember, the edge has never cut anything and to my eyes it looks unused, original and pristine.

This is not to say that the sheaths/handle/blade coating are pristine. There are kydex rubs on the blade coat, the paint is worn off the snaps on both sheaths, the leather sheath’s retention strap has a slice in it, but the strap is still strong. The drop-leg kydex has some noticeable scratches and some cuts/grooves in the kydex thumb break at the top/back of the sheath mouth. I’ve tried to capture the most noticeable of these blems in the photos below. As I said, the knife has been carried in all manner of gear boxes, bug-out bags, etc. and has plenty of superficial blemishes. But everything about both sheaths is serviceable, and as I said, the edge appears unused--original, pristine, asymmetrical.

I’ve thought many times about selling this rig, for the very reason mentioned above—I’ve never used it. And the fact that it still has its apparently unused factory asymmetrical edge makes it harder and harder for me to ever use in the future—just too rare. So it’s time I move it along either to a collector or to someone who wants to own what is arguably the maximum performance package ever put together for a B9 with all-factory ingredients, an original factory edge in pristine condition, and almost 10” blade length. If you tried to put this package together today from scratch, you'd likely be into a couple hundred dollars for sheaths alone plus a premium for extra long blade length with original asym edge--likely north of $500 and very possibly upwards of $600 total for the package.

This one is SOLD including insured Priority Mail shipping in the US, postal money order or a personal check if I know you--no Paypal, no trades.

Thanks for looking.
