Basic Fighter?

And if you could only have one of the two? Which would that be?

I'd pick the Taliwhacker of the two as they are, but if the Regulator was 3/16" thick I'd pick that one actually. I personally can't get behind the idea of moving up to stock thicker than 3/16" for anything shorter than an AK-47. Beyond that blade length I'd say 1/4" was the ticket, but I really don't get much use from the thick stocked offerings other than just keeping it under the seat in a vehicle.

I know what you mean.

And that regulator is a thick hunk of steel. I imagine the hollow grind must offset that thickness a bit.

I'd like to try a regulator out because I've heard many great things about the handle.

The handle is fantastic, probably my favorite Basic handle currently. I'd have to say though that the hollow grind only really served to make the edge geometry thinner, which is definitely a good thing but still not something I'd carry personally.

I EDC a Regulator..... here's a link where I use it in training.

I've watched your videos before. Love the integration of the knife into the training along with the movement. Adds a whole other dimension to it. And then the speed with which you pull your shirt back and draw the blade is amazing. Seriously. It's impressive.

Just a thought I'd had from watching, but couldn't switching back and forth between hands with the blade during an encounter add an opportunity for something to go wrong? Dropping it or otherwise? That's my completely unprofessional thought on the matter.

What I'm extremely curious about though is with the vast amount of choices available for a combat knife, what made you choose the regulator? Had you tried others before settling on this one and if so, which? Bussekin or otherwise. I love to know this stuff and very much look forward to your reply.
