Basic Love

Has anyone ever sanded/re-shaped a basic handle? How do you replicate the texture?

You cannot replicate the texture exactly but I believe 120 grit sandpaper would be a good endpoint. You can drop lower in grit to hog off material quicker though. Be aware that there can be air bubbles that left behind voids int he material within the handle. Not really a deal breaker but can be unsightly although totally functional from what I've seen. A friend of mine has done this with a couple of War Dog handled blades, one an actual War Dog and another an Elmax SYKCO that I ended with a while back. No pics though, sorry.

The Basic 11 is just a killer chopper... Got a Basic 13olo when it came out, but it didn't feel quite as good in my hand as the 11 and it got passed on to another HOG.

Just hate my thin Basic 4 LE got stolen outta my truck.... that thing cut like a lazerbeam and could skin a buick.

Beautiful! She's begging to be stripped. I guarantee she's smooth infi under that coating.

Thanks Kniferman! Whatever coating they used on these is smooth enough where I haven't had to do that yet.... but I wish I would have had the forethought to etch the logo into the blade before I scratched up the coating that makes it!

The rubbed areas show no INFI dimples, just smooth as butter wood splitting goodness!

The mighty B11. From Blade 2010...
