Going camping Next weekend...Decided I'd go more basic than I have in recent years...
Tarp
twine
collapisble fishing poll
2 bic lighters
bedroll
usgi canteen(w/stainless cup)
chopper
folder
and a few can's of dinty moore (incase the fish aren't biting)

Everything is put into a canvas duffle which is wrapped in the tarp which is than lashed to the back of a triangular pack frame which I just made...

Havn't decided on the folder yet...either vic farmer or buck 110
chopper will be either a fiskars axe or a bk7.
I'll keep you posted.

Hey RR you forgot to add a camera on the list... Have fun out there and stay safe...

Sounds awesome man, I'm very jealous! Sounds like it will be a great trip. Please do include a camera! Any plans for a ~4" fixed blade?

farmer and the bk7 was my first choice Jim, But but that 110 feels nice in the hand....no 4 inchers this trip spooky..I'm gradually working on eliminating the middleman..I was also considering my boker stockman (carbon blades) but I don't really like the edge geometry on it..both the vic and the 110 trumped it in my carving tests earlier this evening...BTW Spooky, and Siguy At long last I will be sending bothe you packages out Priority on Tues..Let me know when you get them.

If you want to try a Silky Saw let me know. I have to work this weekend :grumpy:

That sux I just sent you an email to see if you wanted some beans on Sat night....OOhh one thing I did leave out was my flask of Jamesons...

with what little experience i have with boker slipjoints, i have found that they are rather thick at the edge. if you want i could thin it out for you. if you are interested, just put it in with the sharpener.

have fun, good luck. i like the basic approach...please let us know how it compares to the more typical approach.

by the way, my vote goes to the vic and the fiskars...but you will be using them so you decide.

Well I'm off Be back in 2-3....
just so you're not in suspense THe tools will be Vic farmer
Becker bk7...and a carbon mora clipper in the bag for backup... Take care guys

Good line up amigo, have fun and be safe! Snap some pics if you get the chance.

And that was the last the guys on BF heard of Riley as he finished up building himself a log cabin and spent the next 25 years living off the land only to return when his BK7 became worn down to the handle !!!:D
