Basic11 VS ASHBM

I'm a big guy, and while I certainly can carry the weight, lately I prefer not to. But if you're not 100% set on a B11, try out a 1311.

I've had plenty of big choppers, and the 1311 is the best 'Kin chopper I've had. It is just a hair over a pound and it chops so effortlessly that it hardly feels like you are doing any work at all. The momentum of the long blade, the balance point, and the res-c makes it bite deep into wood without much more effort than a flick of the wrist.

I'm terrible about flipping knives, and I've consolidated my "collection" down a lot. The 1311 is the only big 'Kin chopper I need. Just picked up an unused one to store as a spare.

If you ask me, there is no substitute for this.. It feel so light in hand compared to other knives it's size , bites deep and that asymmetric edge just stays hair popping and begs for more, I love this knife.

Mikeynyc, after playing with the ASHBM I have to admit, I liked the older version better. Maybe it's the weight, maybe it's the scales thickness. I just preferred the older model. Might have to see if someone is willing to trade. I wear a medium to large gloves, and I don't chop a lot. I baton with mine more then anything. You and I are probably in the minority when it comes to liking the original better.

Now, I'm not saying this is t a beautiful blade, but for my purposes it's a bit heavy to carry while camping and a bit thick for my hands. I still love it, but my large blade needs to be purpose built knife. Not sure this one fits my purpose.
