I am in the market for a basket hilt sword or even an American Hanger style.

Any recommendations, btw I just don't want a wall hanger. Quality is important.

Thanks in advance.

ANgel Sword looks to be Katana style or Medieval Style.

Angus Trim is through Chris Fletcher, and he only offers Med. Style now

Arms and Armour have rapiers but no true Basket Hilt Swords.

I have heard consistently bad things about Cold Steel.

Does anybody know of CAS/Iberia basket hilts?

They aren't bad for the money at all, but if you're looking for a high-end piece then I can't say they meet that criteria. A good value, though, and functional.

Who makes high end piece other than Castle Keep and with the import restrictions would not want to wait for 3 years before I receive it.

Asside from custom, Armour Class makes some of the very best Scottish baskethilts.

cutlasses pop up from time to time on Angle

Angus trim's site still shows basket hilt swords however he may not be offering them at this time. Follow my link.

A&A do show cut and thrust type rapiers

Cold steel is lower end and hit and miss, the sabers don't seem to get as much bad press as some of there other swords.

Now the big question does anybody have experience buying a sword from the UK??

I live in the US

Agreed. Their "hand-and-a-half sword" model was notorious for tang failure at the pommel. And their grosse messer was plagued with tang failure at the blade/guard junction. Their sabers, while not completely accurate reproductions, are still some of the best available on the present production market. :)

I own a customized Armour Class clamshell hilted claymore that I commisioned directly from the guys at Armour Class in Scotland. The sword had to be made for me (as it was a custom order) and took six months. There was no problem shipping from the UK to NY (where I live).
