Bass Pro 110 discontinued ?

Well, they were around $80 in Canada (Calgary), and the clerk put mine in a regular Buck 110 box and I took it to the cashier and paid $40-something. My bad...:o

I think this has happened to several of us. Espically when you have several items and your telling a good hunting story when she starts scanning?... DM

The BassPro guy who finally ambled over to the knife counter didn't know which was the pointy end, never mind the difference between 420HC and CPM 154. He scrounged around for the proper box and I assumed he had picked the one with the appropriate bar code. The check-out clerk scanned the box and I paid. The knife had been handled extensively and was covered with black gunk, and when I cleaned it up the bolsters were a bit battered, so I didn't feel too guilty.

Cabela's is famous for that kind of thing. They've given me a few bargains over the years.....I'm a loyal customer.....partly because I'm curious to see what kind of a great deal they may give me next. I can't help it if they fail to train their staff.

It's a part of doing business for them.

As far as the knives go......it doesn't count unless you switch the boxes yourself!!

;)

Hello Gents, is the Bass Pro 110 your referring to have the darker coated blade and a gold colored medallion? Could somebody post a pic, especially of the inverted date etc.?
I know of a store with a few left and I can point anyone interested in the direction but I want to make sure we're talking about the same knife. Thanks.

Going, Welcome. No, the one with the emblem on the blade is from Cabela's and called the Alaskan Guide 110 and has S30V steel. The Bass Pro knife while is a 110 and of similiar coating, lacks an emblem on the blade and has different steel. Both have rosewood handles and their steels are similiar. DM

You'd think Cabela's would have employees above the level of Wal-Mart but many times its not the case. Still, integrity (when I notice it) will cause me to point out the morons mistake by going straight to his supervisor. Who hopefully is of higher intelligence. DM

Thanks DM, I thought I had found something interesting, no such luck. I don't collect anymore, strictly users for me. Thanks again.

Goingdeaf: here is a photo of a BP110

MesserSmith, Thank you for posting the pic, I was mistaken about the Gold emblem but that is the knife my local Bas Pro has in stock.

I called today, They have 4 left, $75.00 each, but I didn't ask about any inverted information. I don't know exactly what I'm looking for and didn't want to tip anyone off in case someone here on Blade wanted to snag one.

Thanks again.

Going, Thanks for finding some of these knives as guys here really like them. I've noticed you keep mentioning something about this knife having some sort of 'inverted' stamp.? There is nothing significant about this knife's stamp and none are inverted. DM

We have two Bass-Pro stores in our area.
The store in Garland has been out of the CPM-154 110's for a couple of months.
The Grapevine store had only one ,mfg date 12/28/2010,I bought it,
inverted date and inverted Bos logo.

This is the Fourth post in this thread, that's where I heard about the inverted logo.

I don't know if any there have it or if it's worth some extra attention.

Anybody can PM for the location if they are interested.

Thanks again DM.

Well if Earl said it, thats a different story! I have not heard that about the Bos logo but I have great respect for Earl. To reverse these stamps is real easy to do and there could be many or a few. Us collectors tend to view any difference as a Limited Edition. DM

Heres a pic of the Bass Pro CPM154 model compared to a pic of the Cabelas AG S30V model. Its hard for me to choose a favorite between these. They are both great 110 models.

Thank you! I couldn't have done it without 300's tutorials, and everyone else raising the bar with their excellent pics, (and help) ;)

I too, greatly appreciate the photo work of those who take the time and spend the effort to make good pictures.

A good picture is worth more than a thousand words.

A bad picture is just annoying.

Thank you everyone for the help and especially for the great pics. They are both very nice 110's, of course you can't go wrong with a Buck anyway.

Went to the Bass Pro again, only TWO of those left now, plus up on the top shelf there were 3 Buck 110's with custom handles. It looked like it said "Crocket and Boone"?

Too pricey for me $160-170 range, but Very Nice.

In case anyone is on the hunt this weekend:

Bass Pro Arundel Mills Mall Maryland, close to BWI airport (Baltimore Washington Int.)

Thanks again, lot of fun getting around the thread and best of all I learned something new.

Hey goingdeaf. I would really like to find a couple of these bp110's so I called the Maryland store and they couldn't find the knives. Bummer!! If you are back in the store at some time please take a look for me. If anyone else has a lead on a few of these please let me know. I tried to pm you but it says your not set up for them.

Chad
