Bastinelli knives Pika and Picoeur

Had a brainstorm. I like both pocket sized fixed blades and folders with "wave". How about making a kydex sheath, or add a part to an existing sheath, that would catch the side of the pocket and release the knife? The sheath would stay in the pocket. A safety cord would still be a good idea not to lose the sheath.

I tried this by catching the edge of the Pika sheath on the side of my pochet and it works, but needs a "hook" to catch properly.

Well this was surpise. I "waved" the sheath with two zip ties through a hole in the sheath. By pulling backwards and up in 45 degree angle the wave catches the edge of the pocket and the blade brakes free easily and the sheath stays in the pocket. I also attached a safety line of thin dyneema cord. Works like a charm.

This is how it looks like.

I ended up getting both. The Picoeur was first and it is a functional piece of art. I made my own IWB Kydex sheath that was a bit more streamlined. It is very scalpel like. The steel reminds me of a Swiss Army Knife's small blade.

After a couple of days I realized it was only a matter of time before I picked up the Pika. Another masterpiece. The chisel grind and curved blade will make sharpening a challenge, I've been using a round crock stick and getting satisfactory results.

As a backup weapon, specifically as a support side tool to aid in weapons retention I would choose the Pika. For EDC the Picoeur gets the nod. Design and execution on both of these knives is flawless.

I'll post some comparison pics in a bit.

I recently got the Picoeur. Comfortable, rock solid grip for a knife weighing less than one ounce. The clip is called an ulticlip and it is fantastic; attaches to almost anything easily and way smaller that a Tek-Lok.

Does anyone know what the hell "Picoeur" means? Google translate doesn't have a clue.

Have absolutely no use for the self defense stickers in the OP.

Now, exchange the ones in the OP for the Assaucalypse Compact and a Dragotac Compact and we are in business.

They'd be great for cardboard box killing.

Maybe the self defense stickers would be better posted in PracTac?

How many attachment holes does it have? Any chance you could measure the dimensions between holes? It looks like something I would love to use, I don't like belt attachments and much prefer waistband attachment, and this thing looks way smaller than a G clip (my go to for waistband carry).

The sheath is 1.3 inches wide and 5.28 inches long. There are 6 mounting rivets along the long side of the sheath. The centers of the holes are at 0.32, 1.73, 2.48, 3.24, 4.21 and 4.73 inches from the bottom of the sheath. The holes are 0.215 diameter. Hope this helps.

I think it's a portmanteau that means approximately "heart stabber" or little heart (stabber)
