Spencer - damn fine work :thumb up:

Out of curiosity, what temperature do you take your 1095 to prior to quench? My hamons in 1095 haven't turned out so well lately.

Thanks a lot, TK!

For 1095 I take it to 1475 Fahrenheit and soak for about 10 minutes, and I quench vegetable oil, although it doesnt have quite the same speed as, say, parks 50, so it gives a more smooth and gentle hamon like the one on this knife. I'm gonna try out some parks sometime, but it's not super high on my list of needs/wants for the shop because vegetable oil does great  I did a bend test with a blade of this exact shape and got it to about 60 degrees and then it sprung right back to straight!

Thanks for the information Spencer - I usually go with Parks 50 but it may be a little too fast for this run of 1095. I'll give my Canola Oil a shot. Again, nice work.

Happy to help, and I know what you mean, sometimes the steels seem to have different carbon levels than other batches.
