BATAC Clean Up

That BATAC is killer. I love the bead blasted look. I think I'm gonna do the strip on mine. When you use the Scotch Brite wheels do you run them over the blade by going side to side from the choil to the tip, or do you go up and down from spine to edge. From the pics it looks like spine to edge, or is that just the grain of the steel?

TL....bro that ROCKS!!! I wish I could find some local hardware store that carried 3M scotchbrite stuff. They have the pads (for sanding) but I'm having a hard time finding the high power stuff! :( Oh well, nice job bro!

Man, your knife got that awesome used and cared for look. I appreciate your posts. Not extravagant stuff, just normal use and then some tlc. As always, great.

Thanks guys. Well let me try to answer the questions you guys have...

(1) PM: My name is pronounced Teer Khan. Long E sound and I prefer Khan to con for obvious reasons. Most just call me Tyr or Teer. It is of scandinavian roots. But I have been called so many variations that I have almost given up correcting people unless they are someone I speak to on a regular basis. But I don't blame people for the mix up. It's not a common name. :o

(2) Mike Biz: I run the scotch-brite from choil to tip but with the BATAC I actually make one high pass and then one low. Just make sure you have the attachment spinning with the edge. Other wise, if it is spinning towards the edge, it can get snagged on your blade as you do the bottom half possibly causing the knife to be whipped out of your hand and also dulling your edge a bit. Not that it has ever happened to me.:p

(3) Solstice: PM me your shipping addy and I will pick you some 3M up. ;)

(4) That particular BATAC was sold to C4MAN but only because I scored a BATACSE. I gotta sell 'em to get 'em. :p But I will use that same method once my DCBB on my SE is all jacked up.

BTW: I got this idea from GALAXYTECH! I believe he did this on a user SFNO.

I hope that helps a bit.

Yeah I cant find them here either. Ive found some knock off looking deal but it sucks. Id like to clean up my FFBM a little more.

Thanks Mike! Amazingly I couldn't find a local source for 'em either.

How is it possible that all the stores we've checked don't carry these things? Aggravating:thumbdn:. Tyr must live in the motherland of knife modding. Some special corner of the west coast I guess:confused:.

I'm pretty sure a regular here works at 3-M. He should hook us up with a group buy!

Lastly, I did a little work on the Edge Pro and this thing is scary sharp again. Especially the tip.

Nicely done!

That looks great. I swear I can see I a reflection in the edge at the tip. That thing looks wicked sharp.
