Batac Le #114

It is not too snug at all. Of course the kydex insert stops before the talon hole but it goes up to the handle an I think it works quite well

Sweet. Then I think I'll put in and order for one for my SE. Sweet. Thanks for the feedback. :)

Sorry for the stupid question guys... I think the answer is yes but I'm not exactly sure.

Is the SE version the same thickness as the LE for the BATAC?

Is that a long or short version of that sheath?

Short version. The short will accomadate up to a 6 inch blade, more if you remove the screw but it's fine for the 5.5 inch BATAC blade. The only reason I considered the longer version was to use it for other blades as well.

The SE is supposed to be a little thicker. .27" I think. At least that's what other HOGS here have told me. :)

Perfect. Thanks.

Tyrkon, the reason I ask is that I'm interested in picking up the same sheath and wanted to be sure that is going to fit.

If it's a bit thicker are we gonna have kydex rubbing issues??

The SE has a DCBB finish while the LE has the Satin. One of the posts here said that the LEs fit fine in the sheath in question. I hope that holds true for the SEs. Time will tell. As far as "rubbing issues" go they do not concern me. I will be chooping, batonning, prying, etc... with my SE so anything a plastic liner or kydex could do to the coating is minimal by comparison.

But to be ultra safe you should go with leather if you want to keep the finish mint. IMHO!

So Guyon: Are you going to use that LE baby? It's such the work of art but begs to be used. It looks like the balance makes it handle heavy. Right?

Sorry... not too concerned about that. I'm gonna be beating the hell outta mine too - just not to the extent that you will.

I just want a nice fit.

I will most likely order one tonight so if you want to be on the safe side keep asking the guys that have them or wait until I get mine and I can take some good pics and give you feedback before you drop the $$$!
. :)

Sorry guys, been gone all day.

Regarding the sheath: It is a Spec-Ops Combat Master SHORT. I think it's a pretty nice fit for the blade, although I'm sure, when I say that, it makes leatherman and David Brown cringe. :p

The blade is not snug in the slip, although it's a much closer fit than for the CG version. In fact, at some point, I may even heat the slip and squeeze the blade-edge side just a little. I did that on a similar sheath for my CG BATAC, and it fits better now.

I also have modified one corner of the slip to accept the blade guard. Just took out a small groove on the top left corner so that the knife seats a little further into the sheath. This makes for a more secure fit, and it allows the snap clasp to line up a little bit better with the handle.

As for use, are you kidding? This bad boy is going out with me this weekend on a hike. I'll take some more pics that should make Bravado cringe.

I forgot to mention that I have only used the sheath with the CG Batac. But there is extra room and I figured the le would be fine. The literature says that the sheath is meant for blades up to 0.25 inches thick

I don't know how many of you guys are fortunate enough to have an Anorexic Badger LE....but that ABA feels like a butter knife in my hand after handling the BATACLE.

If you send me your Anorexic Badger LE then I will do a comparison and measure them with the calipers. I'll PM you my address. Thanks :D  ;)
