BATAC -vs- Phonebook

W:eek:W, that was COOL!!!! Heh-heh, I'm gonna have to try this myself.:thumbup: :D

It's funny how we don't know what these awesome knives can do until we test them. I bet everyone here has a piece or 12 of INFI that can do the same. It's the tool and not the operator in this case. ;)

So rise up and teach those evil phone books a lesson. :D

Impressive, thanks for taking the time to post the vid. I'm off looking for a thick phonebook!!!

Do you guys think the thicker stock of the BATACLE will make it THAT much more difficult to cut the phone book in half?

Thanks.

Now I am going to have to explain to my wife why the county phonebook is missing 3 corners......

Nothing new but here is the first vid above in slow motion. Just to give us all a better look... :)

alright, i could not duplicate that with any of my busses. granted most are used and im not the greatest at sharpening. i tried with my no-e that has the factory edge too.

are mine not sharp enough???

They probably need to be sharper I am guessing. I am horrible at free hand sharpening. I'm o.k. w/ sandpaper. But My BATAC had the Apex Edge Pro to get it that sharp. It's the only way I can do it so far. But perhaps someone who really knows a thing or two about sharpening and angles and profiles could help us both with this question.

just checked those out. look a bit complicated for my meager brain to wrap around, but i may have to order one and give it a shot.

ive been using the sharpmaker, with decent results.

My Badger came to me with a burr on part of the edge. The unburred part shaved hair, but didn't seem scary sharp. I managed, with a sharpening steel, to dull the complete edge. I had to use my Lansky to get it back to somewhat sharp. I am sharpening challenged, so I was surprised after 5 minutes, it was back to shaving hair.

It took alot of initial pressure, but all the sudden, it sheared the corner off. It seemed to sink into the book 1/4-3/8 inch before it took off. Maybe you just need a little bit more rear end Morimoto:) .

Could be! I was fortunate -- my BATAC came with an extremely sharp edge (and it has stayed that way).

Frankly, my sharpening skills are also pretty weak. And I am NOT going to practice on INFI!!! Something more modest first...

Oh -- as with AWGunS, my BATAC cut very suddenly. I pressed and pressed then...boom! I was through and paper was falling.

Great job guys.

MOIMOTOM: I agree that you probably need just a tad more to get it to that point. Do you strop?
