BATACLEs at the BCS

What numbers are people getting for the BATACLEs coming out of the Company Store these days?

I was wondering the same thing. 717? You've got to be kidding me. 717 doesn't sound all that "limited". That seems a pretty high number for a semi-custom item.

When I got it, I wondered if it was actually the 717th made, or if they used some type of random number assignment.

The three that I bought last week were in the low 800s. Really low 800s, as low as you can get and still be in the 800s.:thumbup:

My guess is that it is not random, and something sets the Busse-purchased LEs apart from those bought at BCS. I note that the FBMLEs I got at the store had numbers in the 800s.

So maybe the first run of LEs only sold into the 300s, and maybe the BCS LEs started at 700 or 800 no matter what. Or maybe Busse really sold almost the same number of BATACLEs as they did FBMLEs.

Or and this is just a guess... LE has the exact same meaning as it does on cars. Denotes a feature set and not much else. Or maybe it means that once they saturate the market with them they will stop making them.

or what ever... I think we over anal-lise this stuff. :D

WOOT! Its all good!!

Usually he says that LEs will not be offered again but since he is getting more popular it looks like there are more LEs being produced then in the past.

Has anyone ever seen a BATACLE in the 400's, 500's or 600's?

Perhaps the Busse Combat site knives are up to 300 or so, and the company store models start at 700 and go up to 900?

This topic seems to come up with EVERY new release of an LE model. You guys are misapplying the term. Jerry has stated time and again that, in his usage, "Limited" means "never to be offered in this combination again", not "restricted in number".

As far as the numbering scheme goes, a block is reserved for Skunk. Presumably, there is no overlap. I'll try and find the thread where we talked about that.

I guess I knew that already. I'm just suprised at how many there actually are. I suppose I shouldn't be, though. Presumably, there are as many LE's as people order when the model is offered by the main Busse Combat site. So if a million are ordered when the knife is initially offered, then there a million of them made, plus the extras made for Skunk.

The more popular Busse gets, the higher the numbers on the LEs will get, presumably. Until Jerry gets tired of satin-finishing all those bad boys and switches something up. IE- the first 500 orders for an LE score, or *shudder* a coated LE model.

I found the thread where we talked about this for the HOGSJTLE, but reading it again has just confused me. See what you can make of it: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=3488332&postcount=10

Thanks for the link Rick! But now I'm even more confused. From Skunk's post, it sounds like the Company Store LE's start at the last number direct from Busse, and then count backwards- meaning that there are duplicates of each number, from the highest on back down to wherever the Company Store numbers stop.

So if there are 400 original production run LE's, then they go 1-400.
And if there are 200 offered at the company store, they will be 400-200.

So every number between 200 & 400 would have two knives with the same number? Is that right?

Sounds odd to me. Isn't the whole purpose of numbering knives that each one can be identified individually? I suppose it doesn't have to be, but that seems most logical.

All right Lil Foo, let's see some pics. :p Let's see those 101's lined up in a neat little row. And no photochopping!

This is part of what's so fun about Busse. There is a good, well thought-out reason for everything- but those reasons are rarely shared. When explanations are given, much of the time it's hogterfuge, and the true reasons themselves are subject to change at any given time. Good ol' "floating point logic". To keep the piglets on their toes.

Is there some sort of secret handbook that's given out when one becomes a Hog, that explains the finer points of Busse history- or do you become a Hog once you figure it out?

I'd take a pic of all of them together if I could but,
I can't bring them all into the same place at once...

Could you imagine getting all those badgers riled up???
All in the same place???

You're crazy if you think I'm doing that. ;)
