Batch of three pukko's WIP

ok, here are the pictures from yesterday. I didn't take to many pictures of the process because all it consits of was sanding, a little sanding, some more sanding, then finally just a tiny bit of sanding to finish it up.:)

Here is the outside picture of the plain forged knife I said I would take. It's not much better than the one I already posted but here goes.

Here is the san mai knife. Because it has so much going on in the knife already with the layered handle, mokume, and san mai, I wanted to go with a very simple old school pukko-esque straight handle. I was actually suprised how good it feel in my hand. I like it.

One thing that I am not happy with is how the "guard" fits to the blade. My wood practice one I made fit perfectly, and I should have used it but I didn't. When I was filing out the mokume one I got impatient and made the slot to big. Oh well, every knife is a learning experience.

I might get to work in my shop today, or I might not, my wife's been fussing about me not getting honey-do stuff done so who knows. Oh, and since I already mentioned the benefit knife, I guess I will post some finished pictures of it also.

Well, thats about it until I can get this last knife sanded down. I still need to do some more sharpening on these, but other than that they're pretty much done. I will post an update as soon as I get this last knife done.

Thanks

Wow Adam! All of those look great for as short a time you have been messing w/knife making! Really cool to follow along! I am hoping to start gathering tools and stuff this Christmas to start making my own as well and seeing these step by step tutorials really inspires me! Thank you!!!

Loving the rasp knife man. Looks great. I killed my first deer of the season yesterday with my bow. 140 pound doe. I'm right next door in Columbia, South Carolina.

Hey Adam, those look really nice. I really like the poured solder one! Nice work. Hand fit bolsters are tough.

Thanks guys for the compliments. It is nice to get some positive feedback, it's what keeps me making knives. Andy, I like the poured bolster one too, it is my favorite out of the three so far. I think it turned out the best. I still have to finish the stock removal one, who knows, it may turn out nicer than the others.

I still need to find out a way to mark my knives. Those three above make knives number 14, 15, and 16 and the stock removal one will be number 17 when it's done. I want an electro marker and have experimented with using a battery charger for one but I didn't like what it looked like. First on my list though is a 2x72 grinder. My home-aid one is not cutting it.

What kind of solder did you use. I ask due to the lead content, my mom was a stained glass maker and many people she knew got lead poisoning from the solder and had to quit, it is my only concern about some beautiful knives.

You name is awesome and your knives are as well:thumbup:

Alright guys, I finished up the last knife last night with everything except for sharpening and here it is.

I think this one is my new favorite. I am probably going to go back and satin the scales though. The scales are wenge and some wood that I got from the last iron in the hat at the last guild meeting. I'm not sure what it is but it smells like black pepper when you cut or sand it.

Well, here they are, all similar, but each one different. I had a lot of fun doing this WIP, and sorry I got kind of lazy toward the end with the pictures. Let me know what you guys think.

Great work! My favorite is the antler handle. Probably my favorite Pukko ever, and Pukko is my favorite fixed blade! I really like those!

I am really impressed with all of them. Will you bring them to the Ga Guld meeting next weekend?

Edited to add that the new one is my new favorite.

Thanks Andy, and yes I will be bringing them with me. You gonna bring the curly que one and that little one you just finished with you?
