ok, here are the pictures from yesterday. I didn't take to many pictures of the process because all it consits of was sanding, a little sanding, some more sanding, then finally just a tiny bit of sanding to finish it up.
Here is the outside picture of the plain forged knife I said I would take. It's not much better than the one I already posted but here goes.
Here is the san mai knife. Because it has so much going on in the knife already with the layered handle, mokume, and san mai, I wanted to go with a very simple old school pukko-esque straight handle. I was actually suprised how good it feel in my hand. I like it.
One thing that I am not happy with is how the "guard" fits to the blade. My wood practice one I made fit perfectly, and I should have used it but I didn't. When I was filing out the mokume one I got impatient and made the slot to big. Oh well, every knife is a learning experience.
Here are some close ups of the san mai
This is how the stock removal knife looks so far.
I might get to work in my shop today, or I might not, my wife's been fussing about me not getting honey-do stuff done so who knows. Oh, and since I already mentioned the benefit knife, I guess I will post some finished pictures of it also.
Well, thats about it until I can get this last knife sanded down. I still need to do some more sharpening on these, but other than that they're pretty much done. I will post an update as soon as I get this last knife done.
Thanks
