So the girl I'm dating got me to go see a early preview of the new batman movie at 3 am last night. I am not a big batman fan and have never really followed it. However, I thought it was a pretty good flick. There are not many movies that I would see more than once in a theater but I would go back to watch this one for what that's worth.

I had forgotten about Heath Ledger and about half-way through it clicked that he was the Joker. I thought he did a really good job. He showed that he had some very talented acting skills and was much more complex than any role I have seen him play. It's too bad what happened to him.

So what did everyone else think about the movie?

I loved the movie. Plus the Joker had some sweet knives. There were quite a few Microtech knives that he used in the flick. Great movie! I AM seeing it again tonite with some friends.

Yeah how did I forget about the knives? I think I'm still a little delirious from the lack of sleep. There were some sweet microtechs and I was thinking during the movie I just might have to get an OTF auto. Don't know how sturdy they are but I am going to start researching...

Got tickets to an advance show 7pm Wednesday night at IMAX. on the IMAX everything whips by so quickly, and the view is so all-consuming, I didn't get a chance to take note of any of the knives. I loved how there were levels upon levels of moral ambiguity in the movie, and how the movie delved very deep into human nature.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Heath Ledger was awesome. I liked how the Joker was evil and chaotic first, funny second. made you appreciate the funny that much more.

Definitely a must-see movie, even for those who aren't comic book geeks. Was the preview for Watchmen shown for everyone else? Can't wait for that to come out.

Well. . . going to see it! I hear its breaking box office records already.

I'm really glad that the Batman films B.C.B. (Before Christian Bale-era :D) are nothing more than a distant chuckle. Tim Burton? Like giving free-reign to a stoned adolescent. Joel Shumacher? Yep, projecting gay themes on an uber-male archetype's a brilliant idea :barf:.

It's all about respecting the material, the mythology and projecting it in the best way on screen.

BTW, WATCHMEN (critically praised as the "Citizen Cane" of comics) and THE SPIRIT are coming soon as well!

This was a great flick. .... Ledgers performance was freakin amazing. I read it might get him a academy award nomination......Which is deserved.

Oh and christian bale as john conner in the new terminator war trilogy? Sweet!!!!!

I LOVED IT!!!!! Thank god Batman was rescued from crappy movie makers and.........george clooney!!!!!

I absolutely love this run of batman movies and will actually buy them!

heath ledger was UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE! He was simply amazing.

Just saw it. Packed house. Thought it rang true in a way that superhero movies don't. Ledger should get an Oscar. He does evil 'cause he's evil (and mentally ill). There's no campy wink-wink stuff. Christian Bale is spot-on and the movie surprises you from time to time.

In most movies, you know everything is going to work out just fine, but not this one.

A also saw Hellboy II last week and while it is a good flick, there is no comparison to The Dark Knight. Batman is engaging and involving. H-Boy is just another movie.

Nice post man. Well put. This one has a way of drawing you in, and it is really dark, as IMO batman was meant to be.

Just got home from an early showing, great flick.

Ledger is easily the best Joker yet, and E. Eckert does well as Harvery Dent/Two Face.

Nice twist at the end also.

Ok, I´m surprised no one has made the mandatory question, what´s the specific knife used by the Joker?

Regards.

Jaime Orozco.

+1 to what everyone's said so far. Really good. This and Begins were what I wanted to see back in '89.

The Joker is downright creepy. Evil to the core.

Loved it.

I saw it a while ago (maybe the day it came out) and I thought it was great. Heath Ledger did a fantastic job. Loved the "magic trick" where he put a pencil on the table and made it "disappear", lol. Lots of very funny moments that when you think about it, are actually kind of twisted (all of them, to do with the joker). Really really good movie.

Im not a big fan of "super hero" movies but i have to say i did enjoy the dark night more than i thought i would. Im also thinking it might be worth seeing again.

Heath Ledger was good in that movie and so was Christain Bale i thought. The last Batman film i saw had Val Kilmer in it though :D

The knives the joker had seemed to be Microtechs and a Dalton i think, a true OTF fiend

Great movie, Ledger was awesome.

I thought bales performance was a little flat. But then again batmans kind of a flat guy.

+1

I'm not a fan of superhero movies. I'm not really into blockbuster movies that much either. But I went to see it Friday afternoon with my girlfriend and damn- Heath Ledger's Joker was absolutely amazing. He stole the show. This is one I'll be buying when it comes to DVD just for the scenes with the Joker.

BIG +1 on that. Great recommendation Brett!

Okay, I have to admit that I was skeptical, after all this good review stuff. The last movie I went to that received so much hype turned out to be just okay, by my standards.

This one really is THAT good! Yes, I want to see it again, and yes, Ledger was awesome. I don't use that term losely either.

It's unfortunate that there can't be a return performance. Truely, a legend has been lost.
