Baton a Hawk?

Hey all, I recently acquired a CS Trail Hawk and while playing around with it today, I got it stuck in a piece of wood. Rather than pull it out, I decided to see about batoning it...and it worked out great! Only problem is, upon further inspection of the haft and eye I'm afraid I may have misshapen/widened the eye some. Now, I didn't inspect the fit too closely before, but I did sand down the haft to make it smoother and get it more snug. The fit looked tighter before the batonning, but I could just be paranoid. Can the eye be compromised by batonning? Are hawks never to be used in this way? Thanks all for the input and advice...

I've batoned the trail hawk quite a bit without altering the eye. You probably crushed the haft by levering while batoning.

Regards

Robin
